AS/400 – iSeries Support Center – Rochester, MN The following is a summary list of skills common to all assignments. The individuals must have demonstrated these skills in previous experience: • External knowledge of AS/400 and iSeries • Problem determination and problem management skills • Diagnostic, debug, and analytical skills • Self-direction and motivation • Strong negotiating skills • Written and verbal communications skills • Professional telephone skills • Ability to work in a team environment • Flexibility WORK QUEUE: CONS/HMC • Must be able to communicate with customers o People calling for support typically cannot access their systems • Supports all console types for iSeries systems • Types of console connections supported: o Twinax o Operations Console - both async and lan o HMC (Hardware Management Console) used only on the new I5 hardware platform • Exposure or experience o Basic communications for twinax connections (working knowledge of twinax console / lan console) o TCP/IP skills o Some working knowledge of Windows operating systems and know how to install software o Basic OS/400 skills - creating users, changing passwords, reviewing logs, gathering SRC and message IDs, o Familiar with SST and working knowledge of general OS/400 administration. o Basic Linux Skills (Linux communications and general OS Skills) o Web Based System Manager o Putty o 5250 Emulation o SST/DST o Operator Panel Functions o DNS/DHCP
