A position is open for a talented individual with experience in oil chemistry to support laboratory projects at Cargill's Fort Collins research location. The chosen candidate will be responsible to apply analytical chemistry techniques for the purpose of analysis of oil matrices in support of frying projects. The person filling this position independently designs and performs experiments to complete timelines and milestones aligned with business strategy. Fulfilling these responsibilities requires a working knowledge of instrumental analysis and wet chemistry techniques to analyze specific chemical traits of oils. Additionally, this person works with the supervisor to develop research plans, budgets and timelines, and works on cross-functional teams to achieve objectives. Principal Accountabilities:


50% Routine sample analysis in support of studies, including analysis for total polar compounds (TPC) by HPLC, free fatty acid (FFA) titration and color analysis


10% Interprets analytical data/results as generated in from analytical testing activities and provides appropriate data analysis for team.


10% Revises and executes protocols and schedules for proper sampling and analysis for each product study


10% Maintains equipment to ensure continued analytical analysis and delivery of results utilizing SOPs


10% Ensures proper notebook maintenance and control of intellectual property. Guarantees correct data entry and transfer of information.


10% Manages sample receipt/logging and communicates progress/status of testing

Required:


  • B.S. in Chemistry, Food Science or related field

  • Experience with general chemistry techniques: GC, HPLC, titrations, extractions.

  • Documented ability to design, carry out, and report (independently and in collaboration with other members of project teams) experiments, results, and conclusions

  • Experience working in a team setting

  • Excellent verbal and written communication

  • Effective interpersonal and team skills

  • Flexible, organized

  • Ability to handle multiple priorities

  • Demonstrated awareness of safety


Desired:


  • Experience in a working food lab preferable.

  • Relative experience in a regulated setting (i.e. GLP or GMP) preferred.

  • Strong skill in MS Office programs
