Position Description: Adjusts brakes, replaces windshield wipers, and similar minor parts, assists on major overhaul jobs by disassembling and cleaning parts, repairing components such as generators and water pumps, and replacing thermostats, points, electrical wiring and other items, maintains tools and equipment, and cleans work areas. Capable of applying modifications to vehicles. Provides technical assistance, guidance, or training to Maintenance Trades Helper Trade, Wheeled Vehicle Mechanic I and assists Wheeled Vehicle Mechanic III. Qualifications: · Five years directly related work experience. · Certificate from a vocational school or other recognized source with a major study in electrical or automotive repair is preferred. · Completion of the basic automotive mechanics course, or equivalent. · Posses a valid State Motor Vehicle Operator License. · Ability to comply with all established methods, quality standards, and time schedules applicable to this position. · In lieu of formal course work, a combination of college credits, on-the-job training, other formalized training, or experience may be considered. - U.S. Citizen Additional Qualifications: - Persons with military experience in a related field will be given preference. Certificate from a vocational school or other recognized source with a major study in electrical or automotive repair is desired.
