This is a 5 week project in the Chicago area. 1.1 IBM Responsibilities The specific Services to be provided under this Statement of Work are described in this section. Remote Project Management Description: The objective of this task is to provide an individual (“IBM Project Manager”) to provide direction and control of IBM project personnel, and to establish a framework for project communications, reporting, procedural and contractual activity. The major sub tasks are: 1. Review the Statement of Work and the contractual responsibilities of both parties with the Jump Operations Project Manager. 2. Review the current project status. 3. Recommend changes or additions to the project as appropriate. 4. Review and administer Project Change Control with the Jump Operations Project Manager. 5. Review and evaluate the progress of the project with the Jump Operations Project Manager to resolve any necessary changes. 6. Provide technical oversight of IBM project activities. 7. Prepare and submit invoice(s). Completion Criteria: This task is complete when IBM has verified the delivery of the value of products specified under “Charges”, or any subsequent Change Authorization, or IBM has met the criteria defined in the Completion Criteria section of this Statement of Work. High Level Project Plan 1.1.2 Understand and Document Existing Grid/HPC Environment Description: The purpose of this activity will be to understand and document the existing infrastructure required to support the Jump Operations Grid/HPC environment. Key activities will include: Task 1: Collect and Review existing Grid/HPC environment: § Perform meetings and work sessions to collect information about the existing Grid/HPC environment and associated infrastructure needs § Utilize existing Jump Operations documentation about the existing Grid/HPC environment § Identify and review all components of existing Grid/HPC infrastructure (i.e. storage, machine/cpu/memory, operating systems, grid middleware, network/infiniband, monitoring of jobs/hardware/storage/network/performance, scale out with capacity on demand) § Review the collected documentation Task 2: Collect and Document Grid/HPC application requirements: § Utilize existing Jump Operations documentation about the existing Grid/HPC environment and associated applications and workloads. § Identify and document business and application requirements specific to the existing Grid/HPC environment § Understand required infrastructure components and techniques (i.e. storage, machine/cpu choices, operating system choices/requirements, capacity on demand choices). Completion Criteria: This task will be considered complete when the requirements have been delivered to the Jump Operations project manager. Jump Operations has 3 business days to notify IBM in writing with their concurrence or it will be deemed accepted. Deliverable Materials: Solution Outline Report 1.1.3 Solution Outline of the Grid/HPC PoC Environment Design Description: The purpose of this activity is to develop the conceptual and macro level view of the Grid/HPC infrastructure design to meet the requirements documented. Task 1: Outline Architecture Overview § Outline application, Grid middleware, Monitoring middleware and infrastructure elements of the new architecture; § Develop high level topology diagrams that represent the placement of functional components in the environment; § Add the applications, data, monitoring, and grid middleware design specifications to the topology diagrams that represent the placement of functional components in the environment. § Add the infrastructure design specifications to the topology diagrams that represent the placement of functional components in the environment § Develop base timeline estimates for the PoC deployment Task 2: High Performance Computing Design As part of the macro design IBM will analyze and recommend how Grid/HPC tools and techniques can contribute to the overall performance and success of the Jump Operations environment. Key activities will include considerations and techniques such as: § Multiple Grid Middleware choices § Monitoring Middleware choices § I/O and file optimization and transfer § Provisioning and De-Provisioning choices § Scale-out, capacity on demand choices This task will be complete when recommendations regarding Grid/HPC tools and techniques have been documented. Completion Criteria: This task will be considered complete when the Solution Outline Report has been updated with the following: § Macro Level architecture diagrams § Business and Non-Functional requirements § Grid/HPC PoC Critical Success Criteria § Architecture Decisions for Grid/HPC PoC based on storage, server, network, monitoring, and grid middleware § High-Level Grid/HPC PoC Timeline estimate Deliverable Materials: Updated Solution Outline Report Required Skills / Other Comments: * Position Title Grid Architect * Requested Band(s) 8 * Languages Spoken English * Required Roles & Skill Sets * Primary Role Server Services Specialist Primary Skill Set General Secondary Skill Sets Primary Skill Group SSS - Server - GRID Comments / Other Skills REQUIRED SKILLS: Grid / HPC middleware Grid / HPC resource managers Grid / HPC architecture and design Knowledge of parallel and high-performance filesystems This is an assessment and POC to optimize the customer's Grid / HPC environment.
