Job Description: 

At AT&T, our Chief Technology Office (CTO) is the embodiment of innovation. We're responsible for developing, designing, planning and building AT&T's wireless and wired networks - including the nation's fastest 3G wireless network, our groundbreaking U-verse network and one of the world's largest and most advanced IP backbone.




Looking for senior level RAN engineer to support market-wide optimization of AT&T wireless networks (Ericsson-GSM/UMTS/LTE) in the Chicago market. This position will be required to demonstrate strong technical skills. Strong initiative, independent thinking and the ability to work independently with little direction are required. Responsibilities include in-depth network investigation to optimize and improve network performance. This person must be experienced in voice and data performance optimization preferable in the Ericsson UMTS/LTE Network. The position will also require the candidate to work/support special projects and field studies, document/communicate project status, with an objective to improve RAN performance, standards and processes. The engineer will develop recommendations that will help market achieve corporate performance initiatives.


Qualifications:


  • Bachelors of Science in Electronic/ Electrical Engineering

  • Minimum 5 years in wireless experience, 7 years experience preferred

  • Advanced understanding of RF propagation principles, GSM, UMTS and LTE theory, and antenna propagation theory.

  • Advanced understanding of UMTS/ LTE Air Interface and eRAN procedure, functionalities and algorithms.

  • Experience with various drive test units, TEMS is a plus.

  • Ability to interpret data to determine direction and improvements required.

  • Detailed understanding of call processing, signaling, data translations, tracing and protocol analysis techniques.

  • Detailed understanding of interfaces and relationships between nodes relative to network performance.

  • Excellent computer skills: UNIX, Oracle DB, Excel macros, Business Objects, COPS, Arieso, Ericsson OSS and SQL programming.

  • Expert Level MapInfo and skills

  • Strong problem solving / troubleshooting skills.

  • Self-motivated and ability to work under pressure.

  • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal skills. Previous experience training others and presenting lots of technical presentation is a plus.
