SPECIFIC DESCRIPTION - Perform planning for the evolution of the AFSCN to the future vision. - Develop project descriptions to implement the best methods of implementation. - Perform cost analysis to show engineering estimate of costs for PoC, projects, and studies. - Help AF customer to determine prioritized list of studies, projects, and PoCs to reach the vision of the future AFSCN. GENERAL JOB DUTIES/DESCRIPTION - Performs a variety of engineering work in the development of an operable system capable of meeting requirements within imposed constraints including mass, cost and schedule. - Usually is an engineering generalist with knowledge in several different engineering disciplines such as electrical, mechanical and aerospace. - Executes specific engineering assignments under the direction and guidance of higher level engineers. - Performs other functions necessary to complete engineering assignments. - Assists other high level engineers or higher level engineering program elements engaged in an engineering or research project. - Assumes responsibility for a major segment of related work. - Represents the company at subcontractor's plants, customer's engineering department, field and test installations or other field locations. - May serve as company representative advising customer and contractor personnel on technical requirements for products or services, support equipment and electronic equipment installation. - Serves as the customer interface and organizational consultant on significant issues requiring technical guidance, redirection or resolution. - May act as leader for a small single function team; represents the organization related to a specific project. - Performs all other duties as assigned. With some of these duties related to project interdependencies such as: 1- Interface with project managers to gather information regarding project schedules, including critical events and milestones. 2- Identify interdependencies between projects, which may include predecessors, resource conflicts, or other issues. 3- Prepare materials to present summary schedules to the government customer. 4- Communicate and coordinate issues with project managers, lead engineers, risk managers, and the government customer. 5- Drive continuous improvement in cross contract project integration, including development of processes to manage overall scope and interdependencies.BASIC QUALIFICATIONS - Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or Applied Science with at least 3 years of related experience. - In lieu of degree, 11 years of related experience is required. - Must be a U.S. Citizen in order to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security clearance ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS - Individual should possess a strong ability to effectively articulate issues and proposed plans to resolve critical problems both verbally and in writing with technical experts and customers. - Demonstrated technical writing and technical documentation experience. - Ability to coordinate with multi-disciplined teams comprised of various engineers, upper level management, and external government customers. - Knowledge of and experience with customer and/or government interactions. - Excellent attention to detail and communication skills. - Solid understanding of advanced engineering principles/concepts as related to communications with and operation of satellite and antenna systems a plus. - Knowledge of the AFSCN and its components a plus.
