Provides radio frequency (RF) and/or Radio Access Network (RAN) performance and some design. Responsible for Performance as well as Design changes if necessary, plans and oversees installation, maintenance and optimization of wireless radio access network communications systems, including radio propagation modeling and prediction, microwave path analysis, interference analysis, frequency coordination, cell site equipment layout, parameter definition and ancillary equipment. Analyzes RAN data to recommend optimal changes to RAN network to improve all the key indexes and performance indicators. This is a Sr. level engineer position {not supervisor} performing variety of duties to support complex Ericsson system RF performance. Candidates will be responsible for the performance of large geographical area as well as training & mentoring junior engineers; developing them to be more self sufficient. Additional responsibilities will include, but limited to, night and/or weekend work to support system performance activities such as BSC rehomes, SGSN migrations, system Retunes and disaster recovery efforts, etc. Additional duties, work as an individual contributor engineer with strong technical skills and assists in proposal preparation responses for market regulatory bodies and documentation. This individual may serve as technical project leader, assist with system performance monitoring to include special events in venues, etc. Develops and implements complex changes and additions to system. Trouble ticket resolution and/or drive testing work as necessary. Nature of Contribution- Fully functioning technical professional. Develops new concepts, methods and techniques. Knowledge - Subject matter expert within own discipline/ specialty area is GSM, UMTS, Ericsson OSS. Applies specialized knowledge of discipline/specialty area standards and processes to work. Integrates company experience and deep technical knowledge and has advanced understanding of select AT&T technologies, systems and/or procedures. Analysis and Problem Solving - Solves non-routine problems based on analysis of multiple factors. Independently identifies key issues, patterns or deviations from norm. Works on problems requiring judgment and in-depth evaluation of multiple factors. Analyzes and interprets research to evaluate and recommend solutions. Applies judgment to determine appropriate processes and technical area standards to use and provides technical direction to others in own work area. Contribution to AT&T Technology - Key contributor on diverse projects of moderate scope. Recommends new procedures and processes to drive desired results. Communication- Explains advanced technical information to less experienced team members as well as Sr. leadership in a clear and concise manner.
