    Sensing and Control (S&C) is a strategic business unit in Automation and Control Solutions (ACS). S&C is one of the world's leading suppliers of sensors, switches, machine safeguarding and other devices for a variety of Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) applications in the aerospace, medical, transportation, industrial, and test and measurement sectors.

    We are seeking an HSE Specialist for our Columbus, OH facility.

    General Responsibilities, Goals, and Objectives



    • Coordinate HSE programs and personnel to promote and support departmental objectives for a safe and healthful work environment.

    • Participate in the early stages of projects involving new products, materials, procedures, processes, and facility design to assure proper consideration of environmental, safety and industrial hygiene concerns.

    • Provides technical support to all employees to achieve site HSE performance goals in areas such as Total Case Incidence Rate (TCIR), Lost Workday Away Incidence Rate (LWAIR), and HSE program maturity.

    • Conducts audits, surveys, investigations, and inspections in support of corporate and regulatory program compliance.

    • Develops, recommends and implements practical, functional approaches to resolve HSE issues in support of location strategies for achieving customer satisfaction and regulatory/policy compliance.

    • Integrates HSE function with the Honeywell Operating System (HOS)


    Health and Safety Compliance and Programs:



    • Works closely and under some direction of Corporate Environmental, Health and Safety to stay on track with Honeywell objectives.

    • Develop, implement, and maintain safety and industrial hygiene programs and systems to assure compliance with corporate and regulatory requirements and to assure protection of our people, assets, and community at large.

    • Process owner for HSE programs in areas such as: HSE ACS Management System, Hazard Communication, TSCA/Chemical Approval, and Industrial Hygiene. Radiation Safety. Hearing Conservation, Machine Guarding. Confined Space, Respiratory Protection, Job Safety Analysis, Pollution Prevention, Waste Management, Environmental Compliance and Reporting, also Safety and Health Training. Revises programs as needed to maintain a safety, healthful and productive work environment.



    Environmental Compliance and Programs:



    • Inform management of the regulatory requirements for environmental compliance, and to implement an environmental management system to minimize our environmental liabilities.

    • Staying appraised of new regulatory requirements which affect the facility, and recommending actions to remain in compliance with wastewater, storm water runoff, hazardous waste, industrial waste, refuse, air emission, noise, permitting, chemical control, and reporting requirements.

    • Implementation of programs to reduce regulatory requirements and long term liabilities with respect to the environmental field and chemical control.

    • Accomplish the required and recommended programs in a cost-effective manner to remain competitive in the marketplace.


Basic Qualifications:



  • Associates Degree or Bachelor's Degree in engineering or equivalent work experience of four years in HSE or technical field

  • Two years experience in HSE field


Additional Qualifications:



  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence and teach others in the organization

  • Manufacturing experience
    Be thoroughly conversant in applicable HSE regulations
