Job Description: 

An excellent career opportunity is currently available for a Heavy Oil Product Line Manager within the Refining Business of UOP's (PT&E) Process Technology and Equipment business unit located in Des Plaines, IL. This position reports to the Senior Business Leader of Hydroprocessing and Heavy Oil.



The role affords a unique and visible opportunity leading the development and implementation of strategies to improve the global market position of UOP’s Heavy Oil technologies including launches and positioning of breakthrough heavy oil upgrading technologies including UOP’s new Uniflex Process, Solvent Deasphalting, RCD Unionfining and Visbreaking. The Heavy Oil Product Line Manager works in close coordination with their counterparts in the Refining Business, Catalyst Business, Development, Engineering, Equipment, Technical Services and Catalyst departments to ensure product line business objectives are met.

Position Responsibilities:


· Develop and lead new technology launch plans


· Prepare stage gate presentations, business plans, and launch plans for new products


· Develop, validate, and maintain superior value propositions (generic) for each product line


· Keep Sales and regional staff updated on key competitive issues and product line offerings


· Establish and manage to effective pricing guidelines for each product line


· In line with the value propositions, work with the Catalyst Business to establish effective catalyst pricing guidelines


· Collect, analyze, incorporate and disseminate win/loss reports and competitive information


· Lead the PTE product line operating team (PLOT)


· Provide tactical management of selected alliances


· Develop sales and publication material for product promotions


· Maintain share of demand data


· Analyze prices and hold price review meetings


· Develop and maintain pricing and sales contract guidelines


· Work closely with sales and technical sales support staff on pricing and terms for key sales events to maximize UOP’s share of demand


· Understand cost structure of products and identify and initiate programs to reduce costs including evaluation of sourcing options


· Report profit and loss and take actions in product line to maximize operating income for UOP


· Serve as business focal point for the product line for all UOP departments

Identify and ensure collection and utilization of customer operating and reliability data

Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering


Minimum 10 years experience in the field of Refining, Petrochemicals or Gas Processing

· Demonstrated leadership skills


· Demonstrated ability to collaborate with a number of people in different departments and organizations while delivering results.


· Ability to conceptualize and communicate business needs


· Demonstrated ability to develop and give presentations


· Ability to travel up to 15% annually to domestic and international customer and alliance partner sites


Additional Preferred Qualifications:


· Master’s degree in Business Administration or equivalent


· Technical understanding and experience with Heavy Oil Technologies is ideal.


· Demonstrated ability to collect, tabulate and present business results
