UOP is seeking outstanding individuals who have demonstrated intellectual and creative contributions in the area of chemistry or chemical engineering and have a proven record of new catalyst discoveries. This excellent career opportunity is available for a Lead R&D Scientist within the Catalysis and Materials Research department of UOP's Research & Development organization located in Des Plaines, IL.

The position represents a unique and visible opportunity to interact with a vibrant team of inorganic chemists, physical chemists and chemical engineers from a broad range of disciplines, participating in the generation of knowledge for developing improved catalysts and adsorbents across a variety of UOP technology fields, as well as exploring new areas of catalysis and separation in pursuit of breakthrough technologies.

Basic Candidate Qualifications:


  • Ph.D. in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering

  • Proven record of catalytic discovery with 5 years experience in leading industrial or academic research programs


Additional Candidate Qualifications:


  • 7 - 10 years experience in catalysis setting is considered ideal

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Experience in hydrocarbon process chemistry is considered a plus

  • Strong demonstration of teamwork abilities
