An excellent career opportunity is currently available for a Sr Product Line Specialist within the Refining & Petrochemical Group of UOP's CA&S (Catalysts, Adsorbents & Specialties) business unit located in Des Plaines, IL. The Sr Product Line Specialist role offers a unique and visible opportunity to support the strategic growth of UOP's Aromatics product portfolio. This position is ideally suited for someone with an engineering background and interested in learning UOP's product business. The candidate will be involved with a variety of business growth activities including strategic planning, price and cost management, product quality and specifications, business support for new product commercialization, global supply chain, market and competitor analysis.

Position Responsibilities:
- Interface with UOP's Integrated Supply Chain group and UOP manufacturing facilities to assure that product is available to meet customer needs
- Provide input into managing inventory (slow moving, obsolete, blocked, etc.)
- Work with the Product Specification Committees for the relevant market
- Insure quality requirements are satisfied for all product lines within the segment, including ensuring SAP and quality manuals are revised
- Review UOP field loading reports, compile as loaded densities, and adjust UOP representations accordingly
- Resolve quality issues through UOP's waiver process
- Serve as the focal point for communicating product quality issues to the regional manufacturing sites
- Review plant root cause analysis and provide input into corrective action
- Understand cost structure of products and identify opportunities to reduce costs
- Initiate cost reduction programs
- Review manufacturing production variances throughout the year and impact on rate, yield, metals, etc, with an effort on cost control/ reduction
- Manage metals surcharge worksheet (hydroprocessing technologies)
- Interface with third party suppliers and third party catalyst service providers
- Generate inputs required for the annual strategic plan for each product line and support the budget planning process
- Generate inputs for price management, including market, contract pricing and competitive pricing
- Gather win-loss and other competitive information and feed into market plans, particularly related to product and pricing
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Engineering, Chemistry or Business is required
- Minimum of 5 years post graduate experience in the chemical industry is required
Additional Qualifications:
- Experience in Aromatics production OR Catalyst manufacturing industries.
- Hands-on experience in a product line management, product technology, new product development or customer technical support role a plus
- Prior experience with material master management and business forecasting modules of SAP is a plus
- Ability to think strategically and to scope tasks and set goals
- Ability to thrive in fast-paced, results-driven organization
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Proven ability to develop and maintain strong business relationships
- Ability to travel 10% annually to domestic and international sites
- Strong analytical skills
