Engineering Project Manager


This is an exciting time to join Honeywell's Electronic Systems Engineering & Applications group. This is a great position to showcase your strategic and technical leadership abilities in a highly visible role.


Honeywell Aerospace is a $10B SBG (Strategic Business Group) with 40,000 employees in over 125 domestic and international locations. We are a leading global aviation supplier designing, manufacturing, and distributing advanced electronic systems, products, and services to commercial, defense and space industries.


This role is for a Project Engineering lead for the Cabin products Ovation engineering team. This person shall lead multi-discipline project engineers and development teams. Focus is on new product and technology development, OEM aircraft integration and development and aftermarket aircraft integration and development.



The Project Engineering lead is responsible for program cost, schedule, and technical oversight for the work scope provided by engineering, program office, marketing and the business.


This position interacts regularly with Engineering leadership, Program Management and the Business on department and program issues as well as with Production, Quality, Marketing, and Contracts to ensure achievement of program goals. The Project Engineering Leader interfaces with customers for formal and informal reviews and with other Honeywell management and/or technical groups and outside vendors. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to foster an environment that promotes good working relationships that contributes to and encourages development of technical creativity and continual improvement of product designs and aircraft integration.



Responsibilities and direct contributions include:


  • Preparing proposals, including engineering cost estimates

  • Coordinating with other departments and technology centers

  • Providing technical oversight of assigned projects

  • Driving execution and providing appropriate engineering oversight

  • Presenting program status and reporting data to leadership personal

  • Organization of budget, schedule and deliverable milestones with Program Management Team

  • Develop and deploy key engineering success metrics to ensure proper and timely support of custom product development and sustaining product support

  • Support Cabin Products SIOP including demand and comparative COE supply and associated shortfalls and surpluses

  • Develop and deploy VPD projects for cycle time reduction - system integration

  • Support the development of the Aerospace strategic plan

  • Maintain Development milestone fidelity >.95 including developing key milestone plans and execution strategies

  • Maintain Development CPI & SPI at or above >.95

  • Ensure IPDS phase gate compliance in IPDS phases 2 -5 (design, development, certification and entry into service)

Basic Qualifications:


  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering

  • 7 years of Engineering experience

  • 5 years of experience in general aviation, aerospace, industrial or consumer electronics systems

  • 5 years of management experience


Additional Qualifications:


  • Strong customer interface skills and a strong Project Engineering background

  • Superb communication, business acumen and problem solving skills

  • Leadership capability including abilities to lead and influence inter-department community

  • Ability to adapt to changing systems, processes and projects

  • Six Sigma Green, or Black Belt Certified
