Systems Engineer III

UAS (Unmanned Aerial Systems) is seeking a Systems / Hardware Engineer. Preferred experiences include involvement with robotic vehicles; including requirements development, system's definition, hardware development and design, hardware packaging, integration, and performance testing and design improvements. Also preferred are as many of the following skills as applicable: - Large System's and/or Software design and development
- Involvement and experience (in as many of the stages as possible) in Systems and/or Hardware Life cycle and design process
- Mechanical / Electrical packaging
- Simulation or modeling environments – i.e. experience with Matlab
- Integration of systems, subsystems, or components and associated testing
- Requirements management tools and concepts
- Technical papers, documentation, and/or presentations
Responsibilities: - Seek out technical contributions to an overall systems engineering activity
- Systems Level Analyses
- System level component performance, application, or trade analyses
- Systems level requirements development, implementation, or verification
- System, subsystem, product, or component evaluations, capability and feasibility assessments
- Subsystem level architecture or lower level design activities that may include HW, or various levels of firmware
- System Safety assessments or analyses
- Aircraft Operation or Maintenance (including documentation and training)
- Flight Operations or Ground Operations training and Crew member involvement or support
- Robotic level electrical and mechanical design and integration, including RF communication (digital and analog), guidance and navigation / flight management systems, flight controls, autonomous flight, including Simulations of these operations
- Possible RF or EMI design, test, or development activities
Basic Qualifications: - Bachelor’s of Science in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, or Aeronautical Engineering
- 4 years Electrical, Systems, Hardware or Software Engineering experience
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident due to export restrictions
Additional Qualifications:
- Be able to work flexible work hours and periodic overtime and travel as requested
- Excellent written and interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to multitask
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Ability to work in a complex engineering environment with limited work direction
- MATLAB (including Stateflow and Simulink) model based design
- Experience with PowerPC or Intel x86 processor architectures
- Systems Life cycle, SW Life cycle, or HW Life cycle
- TCP/IP networking
- Knowledge of various video codecs
- HW integration
- Aircraft operation and/or piloting experience
