In this role, the Quality Assurance Engineer – Measuring will be the site focal point for producing and compiling actual conformance data for first article inspection reports. They will be responsible for coordinating and/or performing lay-out inspections of complex aerospace product to ensure conformance to requirements. A talented Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing individual with a keen knowledge of ASME/ANSI Y14.5 is the profile of this position.



Key Responsibilities:


- Provide actual conformance data for First Article Inspection Reports.


- Read and interpret machining blueprints to coordinate and/or perform actual measurements on complex aerospace parts for first article conformance.


- Ensure accuracy of measurements for first article inspection in accordance with industry standards


- Perform as the site subject matter expert with regards to industry standards for measurement techniques. Instruct others on such.


- Utilize alternate measuring techniques to perform initial verification of CMM program capability when used for production inspections.


- Perform or instruct others on surface plate lay-out.


- Interface with Product/Quality Engineering regarding the first article inspection data.

Basic Qualifications:


· Minimum 5 years of experience as a layout inspector, engineer, tool & die maker, or machinist responsible for developing and performing measuring techniques per ASME/ANSI Y14.5.


· Minimum 5 years of experience in a position responsible for the accuracy of measurements on product delivered to the customer.


· Due to export control requirements, must be a U.S. Citizen or lawful permanent resident of the United States



Additional Qualifications:


· Apprenticeship card


· Greenbelt/Blackbelt/Lean Certification or ability to achieve within 12 months


· Engineering degree preferred


· Extensive knowledge of complex blue prints for aerospace mechanical parts (airfoils, discs, nozzles, etc)


· Extensive knowledge and experience in surface plate layout.


· Proven problem solving skills, including Cause Chain Analysis skills, RCCA, ability to interpret data, define actions, and implement solutions


· Demonstrate good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for implementing solutions.


· Knowledge and application of statistical analysis methods is preferred


· Capable of making a decision and communicating to team members why certain techniques or recommendations prevailed over others


· Effective interpersonal skills to interface within and between organizations
