A Technical Writer/Editor is needed to serve as communications support for planning and coordinating the dissemination of surveillance data and associated information used by a wide range of audiences, including local/state/federal public health, other government programs, and research scientists. Communications are for publications, information dissemination, official responses, and notifications. for an ongoing program. Areas of responsibility include: • Planning and implementation of communications using appropriate media and strategies targeted for intended audiences o Participate in communication efforts surrounding data releases, annual meetings, and other major events, including writing CDC and partner announcements, develop timelines for release, and coordinate with all parties o Prepare Powerpoint presentations, talking points, and briefing materials for leadership o Review and provide feedback to staff on communication/dissemination activities • Preparation of messaging content and thorough edits of others’ contributions for accuracy and integrity o Write accurately and effectively per the media or communications method o Complete “publications ready” as independently as possible with minimal review • Primary point of contact for coordination and preparation of responses to public, media, government, and other stakeholders’ inquiries • Work closely with web developers on development of content and rollout of updates to website: o Monitor dynamic and static content on web site o Write and edit content for web site as needed o Collaborate with web developer and assist in checking web pages in development for content, usability, and accuracy • Review documents, provide feedback, and work with leadership to ensure accuracy and effective presentation, of data, overall system, policy and funding documents, and the program • Administer system and maintain updated list of publications for the current fiscal year . Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelors Degree and 10 years of experience or Masters degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Health, or related field and 8 years of relevant experience • Candidate must be able to communicate (orally and written) effectively with ability to present concepts appropriate to the audience • Proficient in MS Office products such as Word, PowerPoint, Excel, SharePoint • Familiarity with CDC clearance process • Ability to perform independently developing appropriate approach and creating documentation with minimal edit cycles to produce accurate and quality results
