We're responsible for developing, designing, planning and building AT&T's wireless and wired networks, including the nation's fastest 3G wireless network, our groundbreaking U-verse network and one of the world's largest and most advanced IP backbone networks. Just as importantly, our team conducts industry-leading research and development for network technologies as well as the applications that take advantage of connectivity





Overall Purpose: Responsible for all aspects of the development and implementation of assigned technical projects and provides a single point of contact for those projects. Projects are typically high value long term projects.


Key Roles and Responsibilities: Project Manager leads cross functional teams to complete projects within allotted timeline and budget. Takes technical projects from original concept through final implementation. Defines project scope and objectives. Develops detailed work plans, schedules, project estimates, resource plans, and status reports. Conducts project meetings and is responsible for project tracking and analysis. Ensures adherence to quality standards and reviews project deliverables. Manages the integration of vendor tasks and tracks and reviews vendor deliverables. Provides technical and analytical guidance to project team. Recommends and takes action to direct the analysis and solutions of problems. Job Contribution: Seasoned technical professional. Contributes through proven technical expertise. Has significant dept/functional impact.


KNOWLEDGE SME within own discipline/specialty area; basic knowledge of other disciplines/specialty areas. Deep technical knowledge. Applies in depth knowledge of discipline/specialty area standards/processes. Integrates industry experience and deep professional/technical knowledge. Technical leader and recognized expert on select ATT technologies/systems/procedures.


ANALYSIS/PROBLEM SOLVING Solves unique problems through evaluative judgment/precedent. Independently applies sophisticated analysis in evaluating issues. Develops new concepts/methods/techniques for cross functional initiatives. Recognizes/pursues alternative methods.


INDEPENDENCE Guided by department goals/objectives. Exercises latitude in determining objectives/approaches to projects. Leads multiple small to medium sized projects and technical breadth.


CONTRIBUTION TO ATT TECHNOLOGY Key contributor on complex projects/initiatives. Impacts current and future business opportunities through application of specialized technical/ industry knowledge. Develops methods/techniques based on strategic project objectives.


COMMUNICATION Mentors and provides technical guidance and explains advanced concepts to others in work area. Coordinates across multiple departments. Promotes active listening and open communication. Provides leadership/guidance to others.


Experience: Typically at least 5-8 years of successful network engineering or related experience. Technical Career Pathway (TCP) role. Entry into this title may require TCP Governance Board Review. Supervisory: No.


Environmental Requirements: This position may be responsible for contributing to ATT compliance with environmental laws and regulations as applicable to its job function. This may include, but is not limited to, work related to fuel tanks, emergency and stand-by generators, boilers, hazardous waste, hazardous materials, batteries, manholes and vaults, water wells, linear and other construction projects, water discharge, or air emissions.

Required Skills/Majors:

-Strong Program/Project Management - minimum 5 years or equivalent experience

-Successful experience working across multiple organizations and functions

-Strong written and verbal communications skills

-Effective meeting management skills

-PC skills (Microsoft Office, etc.)

-Good negotiation skills needed to prevent and/or resolve issues and problems


Desired Skills/Majors:

-Telecom Industry experience - minimum 2 years

-Certifications recommended in PMP, Six Sigma

-Understanding of Telephony engineering principles

-Advanced Microsoft Excel Skills

-Project Management Tools and Software (Microsoft Project, etc)

-Contract administration/Vendor management

-Engineering/Math/Science BS
