An excellent career opportunity is currently available for a Sr. Utilities & Offsites Engineer within UOP's Process Technology & Equipment (PT&E) business located in Des Plaines, IL. This position will play a key role in providing an in-depth knowledge of the design of utilities & offsites facilities for oil refineries and petrochemical plants.

Position responsibilities:
· Will apply a working knowledge of most or all of the following U&O systems:
· Steam, Boiler Feedwater, and Condensate Handling · Water and Cooling Water · Flare · Plant and Instrument Air and Nitrogen · Fuel Oil and Gas · Blending · Tankage · Loading and Unloading · Effluent Treating · Electrical
· Establish system requirements, create system flow diagrams, perform heat and material balances, establish hydraulics, specify system equipment and write design narratives.
· Apply a familiarity with major U&O related technologies and equipment, such as the following:
· Fired boilers, Heat Recovery Steam Generator (HRSG)'s, process heat recovery via steam generation. · Steam turbines, motors, and gas turbines. · Water treating via filtration, clarification, ion exchange, and desalination using Reverse Osmosis (RO), Multi Stage Flash (MSF) and Multi Effect Distillation (MED). · Chemical treatment for steam, water, cooling water, and effluent. · Flares - elevated, ground, enclosed, etc. · Nitrogen production, storage, and distribution - air separation plants, cryogenic storage and vaporization, PSA, etc. · Combustion system requirements, equipment, and characteristics. · Blending techniques, hardware, and control systems. · Tanks - atmospheric, low pressure, high pressure; diking, venting, fire protection, blanketing, etc. · Loading and unloading systems for truck, rail, ship as well as pipeline facilities. · API Separators, Dissolved Air Floatation (DAF), biological treatment, and related systems.
