Honeywell Aerospace is a leading global provider of integrated avionics, engines, systems and service solutions for aircraft manufacturers, airlines, business and general aviation, military, space and airport operations.


The Aerospace-Urbana facility has designed and manufactured aircraft lighting products for more than 70 years. The products supported by the Urbana facility include Interior, Exterior, and Electro-Mechanical Lighting, Cockpit Displays and Electronics, and Obstruction Lighting. On-site activities include fabrication, manufacturing, repair /overhaul, and engineering. Aerospace-Urbana currently has an opening for a Technician III Manufacturing Engineering. This Mftg Engineering Technician will be responsible for but not limited to the following tasks:


  • Perform duties required to support activities required by Product Engineering, Operations AME, and Quality and Manufacturing Assurance teams.
  • Identify and analyze product/process opportunities. Plan, deploy, monitor and control process improvements.
  • Utilizes Six Sigma Plus tools, Design for Manufacturing (DFM) tools to support process improvement. Ensure technical compliance with HS&E, OSHA regulations and requirements.
  • Provide direct support for unit cost management including Cost Savings, Quality Improvements, Cycle Time Reductions, Supplier Quality, Product Cost, Productivity, Escapes and First Pass Yields.
  • Performs actions as directed by Product Engineering to supports initiatives to improve Built-in-Quality, eliminating quality escapes, reducing the Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ)
  • Performs assigned duties as established by Product Engineering. Duties include: Work instruction creation and updates, tooling design and maintenance, equipment maintenance and troubleshooting, supplier quality support, calibration routines, verification of process checks, process and HS&E audits, etc
  • Support the Quality Management System (QMS) policies and procedures. Ensure correct tooling and factory test equipment are available and in use. Support all internal and regulatory audits as required. Support identifying Root Cause Corrective Actions using processes such as Corrective Action Mistake-Proofing (CAMP)
  • Provides assistance to ensure improvements or achievement of AOP in the following: On-Time Delivery, PPM, Escapes, Cycle-time Reduction, First Pass Yield, Turn Around Time, Inventory Reduction, COPQ and Safety
  • Participates as a member of project teams (such as cost reduction, transitions, etc.). Responsible for identifying alternate solutions to mitigate schedule and quality risks.
  • Support internal manufacturing operations and provide status on continuous improvements as needed. Work together and provide daily statusing to support: On-Time Delivery, PPM, Escapes, Cycle-time Reduction, First Pass Yield, and Turn around Time, Inventory Reduction, COPQ and Safety.
  • Performs project tasks. Provides technical assistance in troubleshooting production and test equipment. Participate on Operational Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) improvement efforts.
  • May provide data or assistance in support of high visibility issues or projects (daily or as needed interaction).

Basic Qualifications:



  • High School Diploma/GED required
  • Minimum 2 years directly related manufacturing support experience.
  • Due to ITAR, must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident.

Additional Qualifications:



  • Two (2) year technical training diploma/certificate a plus
  • Able to confer with associates and management on production issues, projects and metrics.
  • Ability to develop and document step-by-step methods for assembly, manufacturing and testing of products.
  • Able to read and understand Honeywell drawings.
  • Computer skills including MS Office Suite (including EXCEL and PowerPoint).
  • Familiar with SAP, Lean Manufacturing and Honeywell Operating System (HOS) where applicable.
