Mechanic II Assembly Honeywell Aerospace is a $10 B SBG (Strategic Business Group) with 40,000 employees in over 125 domestic and international locations. We are a leading global aviation supplier designing, manufacturing and distributing advanced electronic systems, products and services to commercial, defense and space industries. Aerospace headquarters and this position are based in Torrance, CA. The Assembly Mechanic position will function and support the production assembly facilities and processes in Torrance, CA. The selected candidate will have direct report responsibility to a Production Leader within the Assembly and Test COE. This position will directly support the production assembly processes by providing mechanic and assembly services to establish and maintain customer product demand and on-time-to request (OTTR) requirements. In this role the mechanic will: • Operate computer terminals to access and follow assembly Manufacturing Operations and Tooling (MOT) instructions and related procedures to assemble engines to production specifications. • Provide training to others and assist engineering in resolving assembly and test related issues. • Continuously monitor work functions and recommend changes needed to improve product reliability, quality and reduce overall cost. • Provide assistance in all assembly areas or product lines as necessary or requested by management. • Oversee and identify equipment that requires maintenance or calibration and maintain a clean work area, with emphasis in foreign object damage (FOD) prevention. • Participate in continuous improvement efforts such as Lean Manufacturing, Green Belt Training. • Possess willingness to extend and work fair share of overtime requirements. • Communicate and maintain positive relationships with second or third shifts to allow a successful production status and technical turnover between shifts. Basic Qualifications: • Minimum of High School diploma or GED. • 1 year of direct related production experience. • Authorized to work in the location where this position is based Attributes/Skills Required / Sought: • A&P license preferred. • Thorough knowledge of engine mechanical assembly, manufacturing processes, blueprint interpretation, mistake proofing, and lessons learned practices. • Experience with the use of standard and pneumatic tooling, standard and special measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, torque wrenches, and electrical resistance test equipment. • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills with individuals of other disciplines and various levels within and out of the organization. • Knowledge of turbine engine operating theory preferred. • Excellent analytical, interpersonal, coping, reading, and mathematical skills required. Key Success Factors: • Become an integral focal point within the Assembly and Test plant to ensure the achievement of organizational goals (safety, quality, cost, delivery). • Demonstrate a high level of proficiency with procedures, work instructions, specifications, blueprints, and rework/repair practices. • Be able to function in cross-functional teams and reach a consensus. Flexible schedule and strong commitment task to facilitate in providing seamless mechanic support during non-standard work times. |
