Job Description: 

The Northrop Grumman SIGINT Technology Center (STC) is where Technology and Teamwork come together to meet the unique needs of the Intelligence Community and Department of Defense. The qualified applicant will become part of the STC, which executes programs ranging from state-of-the-art microwave developments to Unmanned Aerial Vehicle SIGINT payloads and data links. STC work includes hardware development, system integration, field operations and maintenance, training and production.

The STC is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to assist an experienced team of mechanical engineers in a rapidly growing electronics hardware development department. The candidate must be a self starter and willing to take the initiative to get involved. The position involves mechanical design, CADD work (including drawing and parts list documentation), structural analysis, thermal analysis and aerodynamic analysis. The individual will work with a team of mechanical engineers on various design projects. Hands-on experience with hardware is highly desirable. Candidate may be required to do small amounts of travel during integration and testing.


Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:
• Bachelor’s degree or higher with at least five (5) years or more of total relevant work experience, 3 years with Masters, 9 years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
• Ability to obtain TS/SCI clearance
• Mechanical design experience (machined parts, sheet-metal parts, finish selection, fastener selection, etc…)
• Experience with fabrication and assembly 2-D drawing development
• Familiarity with fabrication methods and machine shop processes
• Thermal and structural analysis experience (or equivalent coursework)
• Experience using a 3-D CADD package and for mechanical design
• Experience using structural analysis and thermal analysis FEA software


Preferred Qualifications:
• Current/Active Secret or TS/SCI clearance
• Experience with electronics packaging in airborne platforms
• Experience packaging RF systems and components
• Familiarity with composite (carbon fiber/fiberglass) design and analysis
• Experience with MIL-STD design and test methods
• Experience using SolidWorks 3-D, SolidWorks Simulation and FloWorks CFD for design and analysis projects
