Job Description: 

Roles and Responsibilities:

· Mastery of, and experience implementing, network interfaces using a variety of network data link technologies such as wired ethernet (all speeds commonly in use over both copper and fiber), WiFi (specifically as relates to enterprise 802.11 technology) and serial interfaces/leased telco connections using Frame Relay, PPP, and HDLC. Network configurations to include knowledge of switches, routers, and firewalls.

· Mastery of, and Solid knowledge of Internet systems, ISP routing, route tuning, MPLS and Voice/Network convergence technologies.

· Experience working with vendors to improve existing relationships, understand product roadmaps, define future capabilities, and ensure product support.

· Mastery of, and experience with Cisco enterprise class switches and routers including (6500’s, 7500’s, 7200’s, 4500’s, 3900’s), Extensive experience with EIGRP, BGP, OSPF, RIP routing protocols, spanning tree, multicast, QOS, MPLS and security protocols. CCNP/CCIE certification preferred.

· Mastery of, and extensive experience with, developing plans with respect to technology life cycles. Knowledge of implementation and analysis of TCP/IP, BGP, HSRP, VRRP, LDAP, VTP, GLBP, multicast(PIM/CGMP/IGMP), IPSec(VPN B2B and B2C) and other protocols is critical.

· Mastery of and experience performing IOS upgrades.

· Mastery of, and experience with Cisco Pix firewalls, ASA Firewalls and Checkpoint firewalls.

· Set up and use disaster recovery procedures in accordance with appropriate plans.

· Mastery of, and experience of common network monitoring and security utilities (HP-Openview, IBM Netcool, ISS.

· In this role, candidate will help design, build, implement, and maintain our network infrastructure as well as the complex network connections between data centers.

· Candidate will set strategic direction and drive the execution path for our networks, tools, vendors, etc.

· Identify & document design/architecture best practices for global adoption. Lead technical design/architecture reviews of applicable global projects. Owns responsibility for driving worldwide architecture for global projects.

· Design solutions that includes redundant connectivity to ISP's, complex routing/ switching infrastructure, extranet connectivity, firewall, design, data center design, WAN integration.

· Expand network capability to handle complex IP solutions, including voice, web, video conferencing, other VoIP components, and unified messaging.

· The candidate may be required to participate in AITC support activities such as Disaster Recovery, data replication, infrastructure support activities such as documentation, develop architectural diagrams, troubleshooting performance issues.

· The candidate may be required to lead AITC sponsored initiatives. While leading such initiatives the incumbent is expected to lead team members, develop schedules and plans, communicate progress to management in both verbal and written formats, identify barriers, identify and evaluate alternatives.

· Accurately report hours into the AITC time reporting system currently on a daily basis.

To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:

· BS with 5 years of experience

· Must be able to implement network interfaces using a variety of network data link technologies such as wired ethernet (all speeds commonly in use over both copper and fiber), WiFi (specifically as relates to enterprise 802.11 technology) and serial interfaces/leased telco connections using Frame Relay, PPP, and HDLC. Network configurations to include knowledge of switches, routers, and firewalls.

· Must have worked with Internet systems, ISP routing, route tuning, MPLS and Voice/Network convergence technologies.

· Experience responding to callback and serve as the initial point of contact for system failures as required by AITC service level agreements with its Customers. During non-business hours the contractor must respond within two (2) hours of notification that a problem has occurred.

· Must pass VA background investigation.

Work Hours - Monday - Friday 8:30 am to 5:00 pm.
