Northrop Grumman Information Systems sector is seeking a Red Switch Network Technician to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located at Schriever AFB, CO.
Join us on the edge… The Cutting Edge! The qualified Network Technician will support the Defense Red Switch Network (DRSN) Operations and Maintenance (O&M) Team at the Missile Defense Integration and Operations Center (MDIOC). The position is on the JRDC program.
Roles and Responsibilities: • Support the Operations and Maintenance (O&M) of the MDIOC DRSN Digital Small Switch (DSS) systems • Provide and administer standardized configuration management for the MDIOC DRSN DSS infrastructure • Generate/provide status reports (written and verbal), network anomaly analysis, implement engineering changes/upgrades, and evaluate security vulnerabilities • Generate and update status tickets. Shift work and limited travel may be required Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications: To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below: • Associate's degree and technical experience of four (4) years working with communications infrastructure with at least two (2) of those years being DRSN Red Switch experience. Years of experience may be acceptable in lieu of degree • Must be certified on the Operations and Maintenance of the DSS family of switches • Strong technical and hands-on experience to include installation and troubleshooting • Requests (DBCRs), circuit diagrams, and line button layout sheets • Must be able to document and enforce processes and procedures • Strong knowledge of various protocols for data transmission (RS-232, RS-530, T1) and experience with the operation of encryption hardware used in the DRSN/DSS systems • Knowledge of DSX digital cross connect panels and associated wiring, fiber optic cabling, connectors and termination techniques, metallic cabling, connectors • Must possess certification such as CompTIA Security to meet DoD 8570.1-M requirements at the IAT-I level • Top Secret clearance with a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) leading to a Sensitive Compartmentalized Information (SCI) indoctrination is required • Be able to multi-task in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, have good communication skills, work well in a team environment, have good interpersonal and leadership skills
Preferred Qualifications: Candidates with these desired skills will be given preferential consideration: • MDIOC facility cable installation experience of at least 1 year • Experience with support for an operational network, tech-control environments, crypto maintenance, Communications Security (COMSEC) or systems administration • Leadership experience, ability to work individually or within a team environment to accomplish tasks/meet schedules • Capable of developing training scenarios and documentation to build expertise among team • Capability to work unsupervised • DRSN Certification on the DSS-2A switch a plus. Remedy ticketing experience, Building Industry Consulting Service International (BICSI) certification, Fiber termination or other training and certifications
