There is an immediate opening for a Project Engineer in the Process Information & Control (PIC) Group within UOP’s Process Technology & Equipment business unit located in Des Plaines, IL. UOP's Process Information & Control Group (PIC) is a dedicated center focused on supplying customized control systems to deliver optimal performance for UOP process units.

Position responsibilities:


  • Project engineering, management and customer interface of control system projects.

  • Manage projects from start to finish, including orientation meetings, installation drawings, bill of materials, control panel layout and wiring diagrams, system fabrication, software loading and configuration, acceptance testing, and operating manual creation.

Basic Candidate Qualifications:


  • A Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering discipline, preferably Electrical or Chemical Engineering, together with 2 years work experience in the design, programming and troubleshooting of PLC based instrumentation and control systems solutions is required.

OR



  • An Associates of Science degree in an engineering or technical discipline, together with 4 years work experience in the design programming and troubleshooting of PLC based instrumentation and control systems solutions is required.


Additional Candidate Qualifications:


  • A background in Process Control engineering is desired.

  • Experience with refining, petrochemical and or gas processing applications is considered ideal.

  • Good organization skills are needed.

  • Good oral, written and verbal communication skills are key.

  • Good problem solving skills are necessary.

  • PLC Hardware/Software experience is considered a plus.

  • The ability to travel approximately 10% annually to fabrication shops, customer offices, detailed-designer offices, and customer sites around the world is required.
