An excellent career opportunity is available for a Sr. Process Engineer within the Gas Processing Development group of UOP's Research and Development organization located in Des Plaines, IL. This group plays a leading role in development of new and improved gas processing technologies for UOP's customers, including solvent, membranes, and adsorption process and equipment technology.


The successful candidate will apply chemical engineering know-how to develop new processes/equipment and improve existing technologies for processing gas. The successful candidate will work with other Senior Technologists in the development of new projects and will take a supporting role in projects that are selected. The candidate will also periodically support marketing efforts by UOP's business units by providing technical support including customer demonstration testing, writing technical papers, developing yield estimates and performing economic analyses.



Responsibilities:


  • Contributing as a member of new technology delivery teams for internal development projects and collaborations with external companies.

  • Interfacing with other UOP departments to design and interpret robust experiments and to diagnose problems.

  • Acting as a technical contact for gas processing technology marketing and sales personnel.

  • Providing commercial sales support for customer presentations, design and operating requirements, and technical papers.

  • Evaluating and integrating developments in other technology areas for applications in gas processing.

  • Evaluating technical feasibility of proposed projects and providing recommendations for future projects in assigned technology areas.

  • Communicating important project results to cross-functional program teams.

  • Participating in all departmental safety activities and conducting all work with a high degree of attention to safety.

  • Utilizing six-sigma tools as necessary to implement project work.


Basic Candidate Qualifications:


  • BS or MS in Chemical Engineering with 5 years professional experience in solvent, adsorption, and membrane technology

  • Or a PhD in Chemical Engineering with a focus in separation technology


Additional Candidate Qualifications:


  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Strong demonstration of teamwork abilities
