An excellent career opportunity is currently available for a Lead Process Development Specialist within UOP's Research and Development organization located in Des Plaines, IL. This position affords a unique opportunity to lead the development and commercialization of new UOP olefins and detergent process technologies, as well as support the growth of this strategic product portfolio.


Job functions include:


  • The successful candidate will have the opportunity to participate in and eventually lead multi-functional teams for process development and/or catalyst development projects in the field of petrochemicals. Tasks will include coordination of experimental work and pilot plant testing, experimental design, test method development, process simulations, technology scale-up, techno-economic analysis, as well as others.

  • Position will include a high degree of interaction with other technical groups - engineering and technology services - as well as business groups.

  • Position will include interaction with potential customers, technology presentations with customers as well as technical conferences.

Basic Candidate Qualifications:


  • BS or MS in Chemical Engineering

  • 10 years experience in an R&D environment involving process development



Additional Candidate Qualifications:

· PhD Chemical Engineering with 5 years of industry experience is preferred

· Excellent oral and written communications skills

· Proven record of innovation

· Strong interest in research & development work is preferred

· Good interpersonal skills and capability to work effectively with multiple departments

· Ability to travel 10% annually domestically and overseas
