An excellent career opportunity is currently available for a Senior Engineer in the Process Design & Development group within UOP's Research and Development organization located in Des Plaines, IL. This position affords a unique and visible opportunity to develop engineering solutions for the evaluation and scale up of new refining and petrochemical process technologies from their inception in R&D through the commercialization stage.



Position Responsibilities:


  • Execute techno-economic analyses of process technologies to guide development project teams and maximize the value delivered to clients by Honeywell's UOP technology.

  • Utilize commercial simulation software to establish the basis for process design and optimization.

  • Execute conceptual and preliminary designs for new process technology.

  • Coordinate the scale-up of technology from Research & Development into Engineering production.

  • Gather engineering design expertise and apply it to technologies in early stages of Development.

  • Contribute to the innovation effort that ensures Honeywell's UOP process technology offerings are as competitive as possible both in capital costs and in net margin delivered to our clients.

Basic Candidate Requirements:


  • B.S. Degree in Chemical Engineering is required.

  • Three (3) years of experience in a Technology, Engineering, Research & Development, or Technical Service role within the refining and/or petrochemical industry is required.


Additional Candidate Requirements:


  • Experience in process simulation and equipment design is preferred

  • Exposure to process technology innovation and development is desired

  • Exposure to oil refining or petrochemical business economics preferred

  • Good interpersonal skills and capability to work effectively with multiple functional departments.

  • The ability to travel both domestic and internationally approximately 10% annually.
