An excellent career opportunity is currently available for a Laboratory Chemist within UOP's R&D New Materials Research group located in Des Plaines, IL. This position will be responsible for providing laboratory support to research and development projects.


Under supervision of a Lead or Principal Scientist:


  • Carry out experimental investigations involving wet chemical manipulations using laboratory glassware, steel reactors, pH meters, stirrer/hotplates, laboratory ovens and furnaces

  • Perform chemical calculations for chemical reactions and product analysis

  • Keep a laboratory notebook according to provided guidelines

  • Write monthly reports and contribute to research reports and preparation of patent applications

  • Strictly follow laboratory procedures and safety policies

Basic Qualifications


  • BS in chemistry (ACS Certification); including at least one course in inorganic chemistry

  • 0-10 years laboratory synthesis experience



Additional Qualifications


  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Power Point, and Excel

  • Excellent communication skills
