Honeywell Specialty Materials, based in Morristown, N.J., is a global leader in providing customers with high-performance specialty materials, including fluorine products; specialty films and additives; advanced fibers and composites; intermediates; specialty chemicals; electronic materials and chemicals; and technologies and materials for petroleum refining. Honeywell Specialty Materials employs approximately 10,000 people at more than 80 manufacturing and sales facilities worldwide.


We have an exciting opportunity for a Human Resource Manager. The position is responsible for developing and implementing HR strategies, plans, and programs, including organizational development activities, for Honeywell's Orange, Mansfield, Bryan TX and Chandler AZ sites. The incumbent will facilitate effective interpersonal communications and ascertains human relations and work-related problems that adversely affect employee morale and organizational productivity, builds individual and organizational capabilities to achieve desired business results and facilitates organizational change initiatives.


Responsibilities include:


  • Develops and implements policies and procedures in accordance with corporate HR policies.

  • Counsels and coaches employees, supervisors, and the site leadership team in addressing interpersonal and performance issues.

  • Coordinates, schedules and/or administers all training and development activities.

  • Directs all recruiting and placement of new employees, as well as apprentice training and promotions.

  • Coordinates with legal counsel on employment issues, RIFs, litigation.

  • Coordinates the annual salary plan and other compensation related activities.

  • Coordinates and/or conducts an orientation program for new employees.

  • Coordinates and monitors the total performance management process.

  • Oversees the development and coordination of local employee relations events, activities and processes as appropriate.

  • Directs the service of local employees relative to benefit questions and enrollments.

  • Works with site leader and division HR to develop succession plans, staffing plans and budgets.

  • Studies current trends in Labor Law and Human Resources issues to ensure compliance.

  • Prepares and maintains the annual Affirmative Action Plan, and all related records.

  • Performs Employee Assessments for use in development plans.

  • Manages the retention and maintenance of all employee records.

  • Provides counsel in employee relations matters.

  • Participates on global HR projects or initiatives, as requested.

  • Performs other duties as required.

  • Support and participate in all Structured Safety Process activities for this job classification, as outlined in the site SSP Manual.

  • Support the Honeywell Operating System (HOS) by:


    • Owning the continuous improvement process for area of responsibility and actively supporting other areas; ensuring all employees are engaged in daily improvement activities.

    • Providing direction and guidance on where to focus attention and improvement efforts

    • Teaching, mentoring and coaching employees on the key lean concepts, observation methods and the continuous improvement process, including their responsibilities to actively participate in the continuous improvement process.



Basic Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Labor Relations, Organization Development, or technical discipline

  • Minimum of 5 years HR Generalist experience

  • Minimum of 1 year previous labor/union experience


Additional Qualifications:


  • Master's degree

  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills required.

  • Strong coaching and leadership development skills

  • Strong time management skills are necessary

  • Manufacturing background very helpful

  • Strong knowledge of Labor Laws

  • Previous supervisory experience preferred

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and HRIS software required
