Honeywell Performance Materials and Technologies (PMT), based in Morristown, N.J., is a global leader in providing customers with high-performance specialty materials, including fluorine products; specialty films and additives; advanced fibers and composites; intermediates; specialty chemicals; electronic materials and chemicals; and technologies and materials for petroleum refining. Honeywell Performance Materials and Technologies employs approximately 10,000 people at more than 80 manufacturing and sales facilities worldwide.


This Senior Human Resources Generalist position provides HR support and leadership to two sites within PMT: Buffalo, NY Fluorine Products unionized R&D and manufacturing facility consisting of approximately 150 employees and Tonawanda, NY UOP non-union manufacturing facility consisting of approximately 55 employees.


The Senior HR Generalist position is a key member of the site leadership teams and reports directly to the Human Resources Director, Fluorine Products ISC with matrix reporting into the Human Resources Director, UOP.


Essential duties and responsibilities:


  • Partner with the plant managers and leadership teams to support plant and business objectives and strategic goals.
  • Lead Human Resource core processes: performance management, change management, succession planning, salary planning, and incentive compensation.
  • Drive and deploy Corporate and Specialty Material-wide HR procedures and policies.
  • Partner with the Centers of Excellence and HRS organization to design and implement program strategies to support the long-term business goals.
  • Coach site leadership to overcome barriers to change through an innovative and creative approach to problem-solving.
  • Drive a culture of performance, results and positive employee relations.
  • Ensure a positive employee relations environment through strong relationships at all levels of the business.
  • Drive talent management including assessment, acquisition, development and redeployment.
  • As a member of the ISC HR Team, provide full service HR support and drive a culture that supports Honeywell's 5 Initiatives and 12 Behaviors.
  • Lead organizational effectiveness including change management, leader effectiveness, organization design, and HOS.
  • Responsible for performance management, organization assessment and talent upgrade plans.
  • Foster employee engagement including communications, employee relations, facilitation of rewards and recognition, and employee involvement.
  • Manage employee and labor relations.
  • Participate in and/or and lead PMT HR projects and initiatives

Basic Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Human Resources, Labor Relations, Organization Development, Business Administration or technical discipline

  • 3 years experience in Human Resources, with HR generalist background in engineering or research facilities

  • US citizenship or permanent resident visa required due to site regulations

Additional Qualifications:


  • Master's degree or MBA preferred

  • Experience in a union environment with collective bargaining preferred

  • Action and results-oriented; strong bias for action

  • Prior experience with hourly workforce management

  • Knowledge of employment laws and regulations

  • Communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills

  • Analytical skills and abilities

  • Prioritization skills; ability to manage multiple priorities

  • Coaching and leadership development skills

  • Influencing skills

  • Change management skills

  • Project management skills

  • MS Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint skills

  • Kronos knowledge

  • SAP experience
