Employees at the Aerospace-Phoenix (34th Street) location design and manufacture propulsion engines and auxiliary power units for a variety of commercial and military applications. The Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (AME) organization within the Integrated Supply Chain (ISC) group currently has an opening at this site for a Product Manufacturing Engineer.
The AME mission is to drive a culture of delivering quality and cost-competitive products by creating and enabling the Honeywell Operating System and integrating Engineering, Business, and ISC strategies. This position will be based in Phoenix, AZ.
Areas of Responsibility for the Product Manufacturing Engineer include but are not limited to:
Travel required approximately 10% of the time including International Honeywell sites.
Analyze and design tooling and gauging for machining and heat treat processes to ensure top safety, quality, and efficiency standards. Work closely with the shop floor personnel to make certain internal customers' needs are met.
Coordinate tooling design activity with outside suppliers and monitor progress to assure that the shop needs and cost targets are met.
Manage capital tooling budgets accurately and effectively. Provide routine reporting and participate in annual capital planning.
Act as a single point of contact to resolve technical-related manufacturing problems and ensure a smooth flow of hardware through manufacturing operations to meet COE goals.
Interface with teams to develop and drive effective Root Cause and Corrective Actions through the Rapid Problem Solving process.
Engage and support Honeywell Operating System (HOS) processes such as tiered accountability, standardized work, Rapid Problem Solving, Continuous Improvement, and 5S.
Review, revise, and write work instructions related to tooling, gauging, and general manufacturing.
Generate ideas for cost savings, quality improvements, and cycle time reduction opportunities. Lead and manage projects and execute ideas to completion.
Identify producibility issues and design improvement opportunities and initiate action to resolve.
Basic Qualifications:
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident due to ITAR restrictions.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a technical-related discipline plus 4 years of engineering or manufacturing engineering experience required; in lieu of degree a minimum of 8 years manufacturing engineering experience may be considered.
Additional Qualifications:
- Demonstrate positive teamwork skills.
- Able to deal tactfully and confidently with internal, external customers and suppliers at all organizational levels.
- Possess knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, and blueprint interpretation.
- Proficient in SAP, Unigraphix, and Teamcenter.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence in a matrix organization.
- Able to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
- Excellent communications skills, including oral, written & presentation
- Six Sigma Greenbelt or DFSS certification preferred.
- Lean Expert or Black Belt certification preferred.
- Excellent computer skills including EXCEL, MS Project, and PowerPoint.
