The Honeywell South Bend, IN facility is the manufacturing center of excellence for aircraft wheels and brakes sending out approximately $400 million in production shipments/year and employing approximately 800 people.
This position reports to the Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Manager. This position is responsible for large project management. This includes capital and process improvement projects. The position will be responsible for driving design and process improvements for carbon/carbon composite high temperature processing equipment and process parameters, especially heat treat and chemical vapor infiltration processes.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Specification of new equipment and/or significant equipment modifications
- Large capital project leadership
- Managing installation and start-up of new equipment or modifications.
- Leading project teams to implement improvements, interfacing with outside vendors as well as internal employees to successfully achieve objectives.
- Driving process and product improvement for composite material
- Identify equipment modifications that improve equipment reliability and/or reduce maintenance and operating costs while maintaining or improving product quality.
- Development of procedures and standard work documentation.
- Implementation of SPC
- Diving improvements in first pass yield
- Coordinate with other process engineers to help reduce variation in processing parameters and product performance.
- Work with diverse groups of individuals, including hourly employees, research & technology, leadership and program management.
- Developing and tracking key metrics for areas of responsibility, including Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE)
- Working with operations and maintenance employees to troubleshoot production equipment.

Basic Qualifications:
- B.S. in Chemical, Mechanical, Ceramic Engineering or Materials Engineering or related discipline
- Minimum 2 years experience in a manufacturing environment
- Minimum 2 years experience in project management
- Must be authorized to work in the United States due to export restrictions.
Additional Qualifications:
- Pyrometry or high temperature experience
- Experience in composite manufacturing
- Ceramic manufacturing experience
- Project management certification
- Lean Certified
- Green Belt certification or the commitment to achieve within 6 months
- Proven communication skills across all levels of the organization
- Minimum of 2 years experience leading projects of significant scope preferred
