Position Description: Inspects repairs, rebuilds, or overhauls major assemblies of internal combustion vehicles, buses, trucks or related equipment. Inspects accuracy in workmanship relating to the following: Diagnosing the source of trouble and determining the extent of repairs required; replacing worn or broken parts such as piston rings, bearings, or other engine parts; grinding and adjusting valves; rebuilding carburetors; rebuilding engines overhauling transmissions; and repairing fuel injection, lighting, and ignition systems. In general, the work of the Inspector Wheeled Vehicle requires rounded training and experience usually acquired through years of experience and formal training. Also inspects quality in the conduct of work associated with Engineering Changes, Modification Work Orders, Maintenance Advisory Messages and Safety of Use of Messages. Works closely with management, supervisors, and mechanics in improving the quality process for Wheeled Vehicle Repair. Basic Qualifications:
· Eight years directly related work experience. · Certificate from a vocational school or other recognized source with a major study in electrical or automotive repair is preferred. · Completion of the basic automotive mechanics course, or equivalent. · Completion of the advanced automotive maintenance course, or equivalent. · Posses a valid State Motor Vehicle Operator License. · Ability to comply with all established methods, quality standards, and time schedules applicable to this position. · In lieu of formal course work, a combination of college credits, on-the-job training, other formalized training, or experience may be considered. · U.S. Citizen.
