An excellent career opportunity is currently available for a Product Technology Specialist within UOP's KME (Key Mechanical Engineering) business located in Des Plaines, IL. This visible position will play an integral role in providing engineering and technical support to the sales of UOP KME equipment into the refining and petrochemical markets worldwide. .

Position Responsibilities:



Responsible for all aspects of Sales Support and Product Management for the assigned product line, including:



· Sales support for the KME product lines to the PTE/CAS Sales and Business Management groups (customer meetings/presentations, correspondence, equipment budget and fixed price proposals).


· Facilitate detailed reviews of customer ITB/RFQ packages, develop technical and commercial responses and corresponding equipment fixed price proposals, and assist in negotiations involving equipment orders.


· Provide input to PTE/CAS and Business Management groups to develop project specific sales strategies and customer value propositions.


· Prepare and maintain detailed product plans, technical sheets, sales tools, presentations, application checklists, proposal templates, pricing sheets and other tools for PTE/CAS Sales and Business Management's use.


· Participate in PTE/CAS Sales, Marketing, Business Management (Product Line Operating Teams), and industry-wide seminars and conferences relating to the assigned product line to keep current on new product technology and the competitive environment.


· Providing input to update and maintenance Business Forecaster templates and review BF unsold downloads for any adjustments PTE/CAS Sales need to make for accuracy.




Manage the relations between UOP and Alliance Supplier(s), including:



· Monitor strategic KME vendor shop loading to ensure deliverable capacity is available in conjunction with forecasted and current valid proposal commitments.


· Provide primary KME liaison with these vendors, along with the equipment procurement personnel to update vendors on forecasted business levels and discuss general issues (quality, delivery, pricing) in accordance with KME requirements and the associated supplier agreement terms.


· Along with Marketing, Business Management, Legal and Procurement, identify potential for and assist in the construction, negotiation and execution of strategic vendor alliances/license agreements and supplier agreements.


· Participate in the QA/QC process by reviewing customer surveys on projects and providing input on corrective and preventative action reports as necessary.




Ensure that sales events are executed flawlessly, including:



· Assist PTE/CAS Sales, Customer Order Management and KME project execution individuals in the set-up of sold projects in SAP (sales orders, project set-up, and networks).


· Participate in KME project customer and internal kick-off meetings to ensure smooth handoff of project requirements to project execution and confirm customer contractual expectations and requirements for project. Assisting the KME Project Engineers in the evaluation of and handling customer change orders on active projects.


· Holding project closeout meetings (where applicable) or assessing project closeout reports to assess how product targets (cost, delivery, quality, problems, successes, and improvements) were met on project execution to better understand and manage the assigned product line.


Basic Candidate Qualifications:



  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Civil or Chemical Engineering is required.

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in a design engineering, process operations or technical service role within the refining, petrochemical or gas processing industry.


Additional qualifications:




  • An MBA is considered a plus.

  • Prior sales, sales support, or marketing experience is ideal.

  • Exposure to FCC technology is considered a plus

  • Strong interpersonal and presentation skills.

  • Demonstrated leadership skills.

  • Ability to conceptualize and communicate business needs.

  • The ability to travel up to 15% annually to domestic and international sites.
