The Turbo Design Engineer in Plymouth, MI will be the main focal point to lead projects and work closely with key North American customers to develop, launch, and maintain multiple turbocharger products at various stages in the product life cycle. We are searching for an experienced Design Engineer with 3D CAD experience, to join our team as a mid-level OR senior Design Engineer with leadership potential.


Responsibilities of the Role:


  • Collaborate and work with cross-functional teams including Application Engineering, Product Engineering, Core Technologies, Manufacturing and Supply Base to ensure a robust design.
  • Work on engine package study to define a turbocharger to fit in the engine environment.
  • Manage turbocharger assembly and BOM in the CAD.
  • Focus on part re-use and standardization.
  • Create 2D layouts and stack ups studies.
  • Create final 3D models and drawings respecting HTT design standards.
  • Check product design and drawings.
  • Customer interface
  • Manage data translation and exchange.
  • Work together with customer to meet their expectation.
  • Participate and lead meetings.
  • Supplier interface.
  • Concurrent engineering.
  • Use of manufacturing best practice to optimize components costs.
  • Partner with the Global Design Engineering team to leverage the required resources to meet the design objectives and program timing.
  • Develop a continuous improvement mindset with a focus on innovative concepts and methodologies to better position HTT in the marketplace.

Basic Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Minimum 3 years experience in Mechanical design with Automotive or off-highway vehicles.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in Automotive or Off-Highway engine packaging design using CATIA V5.
  • Minimum 3 years experience with ASME Y14.5-1994 Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing.


Additional Qualifications:



  • One year or more design experience with turbochargers and related components.
  • Experience collaborating with customers and cross-functional teams.
  • Proficiency with Matrix One PDM system and SmarTeam.
  • Experience with FEA (Finite Element Analysis) and CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics).
  • Greenbelt or DFSS certified or willing to obtain within one year.
