Avon's product line includes beauty products, fashion jewelry and apparel, and features such well-recognized brand names as Avon Color, Anew, Skin-So-Soft, Advance Techniques, Avon Naturals and Mark. The Compliance Counsel will have responisbility for compliance initiatives for the Global Business Units (Supply Chain, Sales and Brand Marketing) ("GBUs") and the North America Commerical Business Unit ("NA CBU"). This individual will play a leadership role in the implementation and execution of the Global Ethics and Compliance program, including enhancing the program by providing subject matter expertise and input in the design of global policies and procedures, communication strategies, employee training and key compliance-related controls, as they relate to specific business units. This individual will help lead program efforts to facilitate employee and third party compliance with the policies and procedures required, with a particular focus on US regulatory compliance and the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act. A primary responsibility will be to help monitor processes and procedures in support of the Global Ethics and Compliance Program. The individual will support execution of third party due diligence initiatives, with a focus on supply chain and logistics vendors. He or she will be the primary contact for inquiries and compliance related questions that arise in the GBUs and NA CBU, and will be responsible for ensuring consistent implementation and execution of compliance initiatives in the business units and functions in coordination with other lawyers from the Global Legal Organization. Another responsibility will be to periodically review and update Company policies to ensure continuing relevance in providing guidance to management and employees. The individual will be required to upstream market data and experience to the Global Legal Organization for sharing of best practices on a worldwide basis, as well as draft and develop implementation guidelines for specific business units and functions. This individual will help assess the training needs and help to develop training content for the GBUs and NA CBU. The individual may also be asked to participate in planning and conducting cross-functional risk assessments designed to detect and address compliance risks associated with the GBUs and NA CBU. As necessary, the individual may also asssit with the design and implementation of compliance remediation. 5 years' regulatory compliance counseling experience, including litigation, from within a major US law firm and/or US Fortune 500 publicly listed multi-national corporation. Legal experience from a US government agency also preferred but not mandatory. Detailed understanding of: -Anti corruption laws and regulations, e.g., U.S. Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, OECD Anti-Bribery Convention, etc ; -Prior experience with logistics/supply chain business is not required but a plus -Trade control-export/import- OFAC/Trade Sanctions, etc; experience a plus -Antitrust/competition experience a plus - Compliance risk assessment, risk management or audit experience a plus - Consumer Goods industry experience a plus - Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills - Ability to interact with individuals throughout the organization and outside counsel in professional and business-like manner - Strong organizational skills with high level of attention to detail and accuracy - Ability to work in a highly confidential and result-oriented environment - Ability to work independently, manage various tasks and simultaneously set work priorities to meet tight deadlines Excellect problem solving skills are a key requirement for this position. The individual should exhibit the following: Ability to solve complex problems from a planning/strategic policy perspective, as well as providing leadership on execution. Ability to work independently to solve problems, collaborating with manager and the broader team as needed. -Ability to seek input, communicate objectives and influence others on the solution and execution; this will require exceptional communications skills, well-considered and planned initiatives, and a strong ability to influence others. -Examples: To further enhance our anti-corruption program, complex new policies and procedures will need to be further developed, implemented in a sustainable manner and appropriately tested and modified as needed - Detailed analysis of fact patterns and the law with respect to transactions involving non-US government officials |
