The Lighting Systems Center of Excellence designs and develops a multitude of lighting products for aircraft manufacturers worldwide. Applications include Military, Helicopter, Air Transport, Regional, Business and General Aviation platforms. The product portfolio consists of all aircraft lighting products including exterior, cockpit, cargo, utility/service, and emergency lighting solutions.



This Staff Project Engineer position is responsible for managing a multi-discipline team responsible for the design, development and manufacture of aerospace lighting products. This person will be involved throughout the product development cycle- from conception, proposal, through qualification testing, and to successful introduction into service in accordance with the Honeywell Integrated Product Delivery and Support (IPDS) process.



Responsibilities:

• Lead multi-discipline IPDS teams consisting of Systems, Electrical, Mechanical Optical, Software and Manufacturing engineering disciplines within a matrix organization

• Manage and control overall project and subcontractor performance implementing corrective actions as necessary to achieve commitments

• Preparation and execution of project plans, schedules, cost estimates, requirements and baseline change management, risk management/mitigation, technical design reviews, management reviews, customer coordination meetings, cost/schedule/status reporting, etc.

• Support business pursuits with technical proposal preparation, effort estimation, initial planning and other required artifacts

• Define and utilize appropriate metrics to measure the team's performance

• Coordinate and communicate with management and other engineering leaders to integrate plans and champion strategies

• Interface with customers regarding relevant technical, product and project information

• Ensure team compliance to applicable policies, procedures, and guidelinesBasic Qualifications

• Candidate must have at least a BS degree in Engineering or equivalent technical field and a minimum of 10 years of experience demonstrating increasing aerospace product development skills and responsibilities

• Prior management or team leadership experience is essential

• US citizen or US Legal Permanent Resident due to ITAR and export restrictions



Additional Qualifications

• Proven development history in leading multiple projects with high success

• General knowledge of engineering design processes and methodologies, project management, and the IPDS process

• Basic understanding of standard engineering design, analysis and qualification practices

• Ability to coach, mentor, challenge, assess, and lead others

• Ability to work directly with technical and non-technical customers and managers within a complex matrix organization

• Demonstrated strong verbal and written communication ability with positive leadership skills

• Self-starter, assertive, results oriented, positive and proactive, supportive of company goals and objectives, supportive of other members of the leadership team

• Ability to effectively lead in a changing environment

• Demonstrate support and commitment to company initiatives including VPD and globalization

• Promote teamwork across functional boundaries and organizational levels

• Positively mentor and influence others, and champion change

• Working understanding of the aerospace business, including Honeywell, and the Honeywell Aerospace organization

• PMP certification, training, or experience desired

• Ability to identify risks and challenges, and implement swift and effective corrective action
