- Deep understanding of products, promotions, and advertisements.
- Deep understanding of Company Policies and Store Policies.
- Research all new incoming products to determine accommodations based on purchasing levels and store floor accommodations.
- Responsible for prompt and accurate receiving, sorting, and stocking of merchandise.
- Perform routine upkeep and basic maintenance of equipment.
- Work closely with the buying personnel to accurately forecast trends, plan and monitor stock levels.
- Ensure that products appear in the right area on sales floor, at the appropriate time and with correct pricing.
- Create merchandise displays to maximize customer interest and sales.
- Ensure accurate inventory levels.
- Perform inventory audits.
- Directing staff to cycle and count inventory on a scheduled basis.
- Arrange stock for better access, counting stock to ensure accuracy of inventory levels.
- Returning of inventory that may be outdated or no longer available for sale.
- Supervise department personnel.
- Ensure that the work flow of department is running smoothly and customer orders are processed in the order received and in a timely manner.
- Ensure that the personnel are adhering to all company policies, i.e. dress code, locker usage, absenteeism and tardiness…etc.
- Conduct weekly departmental meetings.
- Provide ongoing training on departmental procedures.
- Train all incoming personnel on company, store, and departmental procedures.
- Assist in the supervision of other departments during shortages in supervision.
- Prepare personnel reviews and warning notices in a fair and consistent manner.
- Ensure that all materials needed for the tasks performed within the department are readily available and stocked.
- Basic knowledge of computers.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Ability to process information/pricing for merchandise.
- Ability to communicate with associates, customers, and management.
- Ability to operate all equipment necessary to perform the job.
- Ability to count and understand sequential numerations.
- Ability to research and use analytical skill for problem solving.
- Ability to lead a team.
- High School Diploma or G.E.D.
- Associate Degree a plus.
- Minimum 3 years experience in a supervisory role.
- Minimum 1 year experience in a retail environment.
