Technology Manager - Gloves COE

The successful candidate will create his/her own execution strategies/plans based on global technology and business directions. He/she should possess great team building and coaching skills and be able to create a "CAN DO" and "Winning" attitude around the R&D team. 
The ability to take the initiative and engage the people around him/her (team, peers, business leaders, manufacturing and other functional teams) is a critical asset for this role.



This is a "working leader" role where the expectation is that this individual is not only in charge of managing the local teams but also for individual technology projects.



Key Responsibilities




·         Managing all R&D personnel for the Electrical Safety and General Safety Products businesses for the Clover, SC and Charleston, SC locations


·         Execution of chemical manufacturing process improvement projects in a factory and laboratory setting


·         Resource planning, prioritization and participation in AOP and LTBP processes


·         Development of technology roadmaps


·         Utilizing resources effectively to support NPI and Sustaining for both facilities


·         Developing and driving critical projects for 3 teams


·         Developing people and coaching the local R&D staff


·         Leading the complex projects via networking with cross functional business teams


·         Providing primary recommendations of the priorities for major lab programs


·         Communicating the senior management goals


·         Cultivating the teams with corporate values



Basic Qualifications


 


·         Bachelors degree in Chemical Engineering Chemistry (advanced degree strongly preferred)


·         3 years experience managing technical professionals


·         5 years experience in a chemical processing, high-volume chemical-based manufacturing or related industry


 


Preferred Qualifications


 


·         Demonstrated capabilities in failure analysis, advanced root cause analysis, problem solving and implementation of permanent corrective actions


·         Leadership of multiple site technical teams


·         Working experience with Lean Six Sigma (DMAIC, DFSS) and stage-gate new product development processes


·         Six Sigma certified (Black Belt preferred)


·         Synthetic and natural rubber, rubber cement and latex based materials, polymers, textiles


·         Experience working in a dipping and coating process environment


·         Strategic mindset and ability to develop robust technology strategies in environments of uncertainty


·         Experience working in cement to latex conversion processes


·         Experience in polymeric chemistry and polymer processing, specifically processing of polymeric solutions
