Airborne and Maritime Systems (AMS) develops, fields and sustains systems and infrastructures to connect disparate systems and enable network-centric operations. Major programs include Battlefield Airborne Communications Node (BACN), Common Link Integration Processing (CLIP) and JICO Support System (JSS). The Field Operations Electromechanical Engineer will be part of a team operating a complex tactical system, providing voice and data services in a sustained operational located overseas and CONUS. Duties include operating and maintaining the ground node portions of network communications system, procedure, report development, and assisting in the general support flight operations as defined by overseas manager. The candidate will work closely with the Active Duty/Government customer as well as internal NG Integrated Product Teams (IPTs). Candidate shall have broad experience with a power subsystem and electronics units. Knowledge of generators, batteries, power conditioning & control, and PWM power converters is required. Job tasks include comprehensive understanding and application of power system designs and performing required system analyses including energy balance, defining and performing system test bed and flight subsystem test verifications, performing communication troubleshooting supporting all aspects of field operations. Candidate shall have responsibility for defining technical requirements and overseeing technical support of system and subsystem design. Prior design experience with at least one of the following is strongly desired: Must have prior experience with PRC-117, PSC-5, ARC-210, SADL, MIDS LVT1/2/3/11 and General RF Knowledge. Must have working knowledge of Simple Key Loader (SKL). Extended travel to hazardous overseas duty locations required. Must be able to travel (up to 75%). Years of experience are acceptable in lieu of a degree.
Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications: Typical Minimum Education / Experience: 5 Years with Bachelors in Science; 3 Years with Masters; 0 Years with PhD. BSEE in technical field and at least 4-6 years specific experience or similar experience in related field and military technical equivalent. • Must be able to travel (up to 75%). • Must have effective oral and written communication skills in order to communicate well and interact successfully with all levels of the organization. • Must be able to manage conflicting deadlines, frequent interruptions, and multiple tasks. • The individual must have familiarity with commercial and special electrical, electronic cables and connectors, and computer test equipment enables performance of technical activities. • This position requires physical ability to maneuver around equipment in test labs, ground support locations and aircraft; verbal acuity to clearly communicate with personnel; and manual dexterity sufficient to use keyboards and control panels. • Experience in qualifying equipment to EMI/EMC performance tests. • Secret clearance required. • Must have working knowledge of Simple Key Loader (SKL). Preferred Qualifications: Military experience and / OR OCONUS experience. Familiarity with MIL-type connectors, cable design, electrical analysis techniques and methods. Possess technical flexibility and willingness to learn. Uses standard desktop (PC) computer Windows-based tools to produce original documents including plans, procedures and reports.
