Job Description: 

“This position description does not represent a current opening but may be used to identify candidates with skills and experience for positions within Northrop Grumman that frequently become available. Candidates who express an interest may be considered for future positions at Northrop Grumman.”

Possess documented proof of American Welding Society (AWS) (CWI) certification for structural steel and AWS D1.2 to inspect welds on machined or practically machined parts, using predetermined methods and sequences to ensure compliance with customer and company specifications and quality requirement. May determine method and sequences necessary to perform inspections. Perform CWI Level II magnetic particle and dye penetration inspections. Inspect welds in accordance with TB 9-2355-328-40 and trains others to the technical requirements contained in TB 9-2355-328-40 and AWS D1.1.


Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
High School degree or equivalent with 4 years of welding experience. Have documented proof of American Welding Society (AWS) (CWI) certification for structural steel and AWS D1.2. Certified level II (inspector) to ASNTC-1A equivalent for both magnetic particle and dye penetrate inspection. Knowledge of and ability to inspect welds in accordance with TB-9-2355-328-40. Ability to train others to the technical requirements contained in TB 9-2355-328-40 and AWS D1.1 Proficiency in flux-cored arc welding (FCAW) and Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) processes.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working on government contracts, specifically on DoD. Knowledge of metallurgical, electromechanical, mechanical and pneumatic skills acquired through years of direct military or commercial support to maintain US proprietary, low-density systems is highly recommended.
