Northrop Grumman Information Systems sector is seeking a Network Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Hanscom AFB, MA. We are seeking a highly motivated network engineer to work in a fast paced environment with in-depth technical /practical knowledge and strong operational experience to support the day to day administration and management of a highly available Gigabit/VoIP network infrastructure supporting 5000 users. The candidate will ensure compliance with change control processes and adhere to standards and documentation. The candidate will participate in system maintenance activities and contribute to the optmization and performance of the enterprise infrastructure. The candidate w ill have very strong customer interfacing background, as well as superior oral and written communication skills. Must be achievement orientated and possess problem solving skills including conceptual and analytical thinking.
Responsibilities :
Configure/Install/Implement/Troubleshoot routers, switches, network appliances and other communication devices. Monitor the network using tools like Solarwinds Orion NPM/NCM/Engineers Toolset , SmartsInCharge, Wireshark, APC ISX Central and other tools. Manage and support Microsoft DHCP/Radius/ related servers. Proactively identify, analyse, troubleshoot and resolve network problems. Coordinate and closely work with other groups. Provide extensive network troubleshooting support and after hours support as and when required. Disciplined and oriented in practice of and adherence to process and procedures. Key attributes include the ability to research technical issues and develop solutions and strong attention to detail. Qualifications: Basic Qualifications: This position requires a Bachelor’s degree with at least 3 or more years of related experience, including a strong technical background in networking infrastruture. Four years of additional experience will be accepted in lieu of degree. Experience with Layer 2 and Layer 3 Switches/ Routers, Firewalls, Proxy, LAN, WAN, TCP/IP, Routing protocols, DNS, UDP, PPP and administration of Microsoft Server 2003 & 2008 OS. Experience in Nortel/Avaya and Cisco product line of routers/switches is a must. Extensive knowledge of network monitoring and management tools. Any VoIP related experience will be an added plus. Professional Certifcations: Security certified or will require to obtain. Must be able to lift at least 70lbs.
