Job Description: 

An excellent career opportunity is currently available for a Project Manager within the Equipment &Fabricated Plants (E&FP) department of our Process Technology & Equipment strategic business unit in Des Plaines, IL.  This position will play a key and integral role in executing on Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA) and Hydrogen (H2) Membrane projects for refining, petrochemical and gas processing clients worldwide.  It will lead a team of inter-disciplinary experts needed to design, fabricate and deliver a finished process unit to the customer, and will be accountable for meeting the budget and the delivery schedules of assigned projects.

Position responsibilities:   


 


Proposal Management:




• Work with sales to develop the sales strategy and insure that the proposal team reviews the customer requirements in conjunction with the sales strategy.

• Develop the fixed cost estimate and transfer to sales

• Review and finalize the technical proposal and transfer to sales with input from internal engineering resources

• Respond the customer questions regarding the technical and commercial proposals with sales

• Attend any customer review meetings

• Review the purchase order and provide feedback to sales for order acknowledgement.


 


Project Management:



• Assume total project accountability which includes directing and coordinating the personnel assigned to perform the detailed engineering, procurement, fabrication and delivery for equipment projects

• Execute projects in accordance with the established Process Plants work process

• Develop, maintain and implement a project plan and quality plan for each assigned project

• Setup and maintain SAP networks consistent with established reporting, forecasting and revenue recognition requirements. Manage SAP billing milestones to support accurate revenue forecasting

• Deliver projects on time and on or under budgeted costs with the appropriate level of quality in accordance with the contractual scope of the project

• Perform required project closeout procedures



Field Support:



• Execute field service agreements with customers for unit commissioning

• Schedule field services with the customer and obtain internal resources to support unit commissioning activities

• Setup SAP networks for revenue recognition and invoicing for service

• Maintain customer communication and deal with mechanical warranty issues



Other Accountabilities:



• Report project metrics monthly to the business

• Appraise team member performance, coach and provide constructive feedback throughout the project.

• Ensure that UOP safety procedures are implemented on each project

• Promote teamwork in project teams through positive leadership.


 

Basic Candidate Qualifications:


 


• BS degree in Mechanical, Civil or Chemical Engineering is required.

• Minimum of 8 years engineering experience in the refining, petrochemical, EPC or chemical process industries in required.


 


Additional Candidate Qualifications:


 


• Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office, Power Point, Excel and MS Project tools and SAP is desired.


• Strong oral and written communications skills are needed.


• The ability to work effectively in a team oriented environment is desired.


• Experience providing technical support to sales process is preferred.


• Ability to travel approximately 15% to 25% annually to fabrication shops, customer offices, detailed-designer offices, and customer sites around the world is required.
