We have immediate openings for Instrumentation & Electrical Technician at our Shreveport, Louisiana; Mobile, Alabama; or Baton Rouge, Louisiana plants.

 

In this key role, the Instrumentation/Electrical Technician's primary responsibility is to execute maintenance tasks safely, efficiently, and effectively. He or she should have very good trouble shooting skills and work independently to solve problems, yet function well in a team environment.

 

Responsibilities: 


  • Maintain all plant electrical and instrumentation equipment as directed by the direct supervisor in a manner consistent with cost, quality and safety requirements of Honeywell Corporation.

  • Installation, testing, calibration, troubleshooting, repairing and maintaining plant equipment.

  • Perform preventive maintenance and inspections on plant equipment.

  • Maintain loop sheets, instrument list and instrument files as needed.

  • Read, comprehend and carry out written and verbal instructions and procedures .

  • Plan and coordinate work activities, perform material take-outs, secure equipment and materials through stores, and know the sequence of operations specific to a task and how to field-verify an installation

  • Identify, set-up, testing, calibration, maintenance, troubleshooting, and storage of instruments (temperature, flow, level, pressure and such devices included in instrument loops), valves, recorders, and controllers (including PCs and DC'S systems) associated with systems and processes found in a chemical industry facility.

  • Apply electrical theories and knowledge in  A/AC and D/AC motors and motor maintenance; single and three phase power systems; industrial motor controls and motor calculations including sizing conductors, over current protection, and overload protection; circuit breakers and fuses; devices and wiring techniques; conduit and cable tray installation; etc.

  • Size, specify and install electrical equipment.

  • Use and meet all plant and OSHA requirements for personal protective equipment.

  • Operate heavy equipment (cherry-picker, forklift, man lift, backhoe, tractor, etc.).

  • Perform periods of moderate to strenuous physical effort. 

  • Climb ladders and stairs and to cover plant by foot and/or bicycle.

Basic Qualifications:


  • High school diploma or GED required

  • Certificate of completion in industrial instrumentation 

  • Minimum of 3 years of continuous industrial experience in performing instrumentation work


Preferred Qualifications: 


  • NCCER certification or ability to pass the exam highly preferred

  • 5 years of continuous experience and Certificate of completion in performing electrical work preferred
