This role is part of Rio Tinto Human Resources Global Practice that covers four main practice streams; Talent Sourcing, Talent Management, Employee Engagement and Diversity. Within each stream, the practice focuses on the design and development of strategies, standards, systems and processes that have global application for Rio Tinto.


Reporting to the Group Advisor Graduate Talent this role will be responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining Rio Tinto's university relations and scholarship strategy. This work will form part of a broader program of work to design and implement Rio Tinto's integrated graduate talent strategy and operating model.


Accountabilities of the role include:


  • Defining current state university relationships, scholarships, commitments and key stakeholders

  • Conducting benchmarking, research and analysis for use in the development and implementation of leading practices for university relationships

  • Developing and influencing adoption of guidelines to define strategic sourcing relationships including engagement criteria and processes with key tertiary, pre-tertiary and other associations

  • Coordinating relationships and engagement with universities on behalf of Rio Tinto

  • Implement scholarship management process (recruitment, selection and engagement processes) aligned to internships/vacation work and ultimately graduate employment

  • Developing, implementing and maintaining supporting global university relations systems

  • Identifying metrics and conducting reporting and analytics to track and measure university relationships



The successful candidate will have multiple years of experience working in large organisations and across multiple countries and/or cultures being strongly desired. You will be degree qualified, self motivated and able to engage and influence confidently at all levels of the business. Demonstrated experience in managing, analysing and reporting on data in HR management information systems is essential. Experience in HR business partnering or advisory roles would be an advantage as would being multi-lingual.
