Job Description:  Kellogg's has an exciting opportunity for a Plant Health and Safety Manager at its San Jose, California facility. The Plant Health and Safety Manager leads injury/illness prevention initiatives, liability reduction, and ensures compliance with Kellogg policies and federal, state, local codes and regulations related to Occupational Safety. Works with Plant Leadership Team to establish safety goals and action plans. Drives the incident investigation process. Assigns corrective/preventive actions and drives them to completion. Prepares, maintains, and as appropriate, submits all documentation required by the Company and OSHA including OSHA 300 logs, MSDS, and training records. Performs trend analyses on incident data. Conducts and coordinates safety training. Serves as a member of the Emergency Response Team (i.e. Ammonia, Fire, Severe Weather, and Medical). Serves as a liaison with industry experts, government officials, and updates management on regulatory developments in the safety profession. Conducts risk assessments and coordinates industrial hygiene monitoring. Uses lean tools for safety awareness, hazard recognition, root cause analysis, and to work efficiently. Manages the safety budget, safety observation and physical security programs. Facilitates the Plant's Safety Committee Process. Encourages employee engagement and ownership in Safety. Influences HR to effectively manage workers' compensation and return to work programs. Additional requirement are, but are not limited to the following:

• Must embrace the philosophy that all injurious incidents are preventable.
• Must be seen as a leader and technical resource for safety, which means the person must be knowledgeable in the OSHA standards.
• Must have the courage to hold others accountable if they are not meeting expectations.
• Must be able to communicate effectively with governmental agencies, all levels of management, union leadership, and plant employees.
• Must have high attention to detail. Be comfortable in dealing with large quantities of data with a high degree of accuracy.
• Must be open to a flexible work schedule in an environment that has 24/7 operations.
• Must be able to handle crisis situations professionally and adjust priorities as necessary.
• Must have sufficient computer literacy with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point and learn Company systems.
• Must have time management skills sufficient to meet deadlines.
• Must be a self-starter with excellent interpersonal skills.
• Must be able to inspire and motivate others.
• Must be able to climb staircases/fixed ladders and work in high places to conduct safety inspections.

Position Requirements Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in a Safety related discipline and at least 2 years of Safety Management experience OR High School diploma/GED and at least 6 years of safety experience within a manufacturing environment..

Preferred Education and Experience Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in a Safety related discipline and at least 2 years of Safety Management experience within a manufacturing environment.
• Experience in a food manufacturing environment.
• Experience in a union environment
• Experience with LEAN and Kaizen Events
• Experience with Ergonomics, Industrial Hygiene, and Behavior-Based Safety
• Process Safety Management preferred
