Job Description:   

PURPOSE:                                                   

 

Plan the timely acquisition of both purchased and manufactured components and coordinate their use in manufacturing cell products.   Make scheduling decisions in light of divisional objectives of total customer satisfaction.   Perform in accordance with ITW and ITW Switches' policies, practices and guidelines.

    PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:  

Aid Cell Manager in developing and maintaining an efficient manufacturing cell that continuously:

 

1)          Remains focused on PLSI.

 

2)          Eliminates non-valued-added activity.

 

3)          Reduces variances.

 

4)          Reduces/eliminates computer transactions.

 

5)          Simplifies material flow (ex., 2 bin/EDI).

 

6)          Reduce supplier base.

 

7)          Reduce inventory.

 

8)          Understand supplier capabilities.

   

Material Acquisition:

 

1)    Obtain material from internal and external suppliers at the best cost consistent with consideration of quality, reliability of source and urgency of need.  Work with supplier risk spreadsheets to develop timing and delivery of finished product.  

 

2)     Analyze quotations received, select or recommend suppliers with respect to when orders are to be placed and schedule deliveries as required.

 

3)    Develop and maintain necessary records and files for efficient operation.

 

4)    Maintain an ethical relationship with suppliers.

    Product Scheduling:  

1)    Schedule sales orders in a manner which will meet customer demands while maintaining a smooth flow of materials through internal departments.

 

2)    Maintain accurate records in the system reflecting open order quantities and shipping schedules.

 

3)    Establish work order quantities and completion dates to ensure on-time shipment of customer orders when required.

 

4)   Work with Cell Manager to maintain accurate inventory levels and availability of components.

 

5)   Employ a forecast or master production schedule (where appropriate) to ensure availability of components, highlight increases in future demand, trigger the establishment or renewal of blanket orders and maintain inventory levels for stock standard cell products.

 

6) May coordinate off-site assembly order scheduling as required.
