Job Description:  DESCRIPTION & REQUIREMENTS:

Position Overview:

Generally reports to the Materials and Distribution Manager in a
moderate to
large sized plant. Plans/schedules production, ensuring
adequate finished goods
inventory and/or conducts Materials
Requirements Planning (MRP) and materials
ordering to ensure adequate
supply of packaging and ingredients. Fully
accountable for material
supply decisions that impact customer service.
Provides input and
support for resolution of customer complaints, product
recall issues,
and non-conforming material for the facility.

Function Specific Activities:

    Validate scheduled production volume, notify operations managers of
    changes to the production plan caused by changes in the forecast or
    actual orders, and assure all materials and labor are rescheduled
    appropriately in order to meet customer demand for products on time.
    Maintain product, packaging and material inventory/availability using
    demand forecasts, historical orders and software tools in order to
    support the operations plans and customer demand of the plant.
    Verify proper order placements, including the review of competitive
    quotations and use of correct order process methods, in order to ensure
    compliance with purchasing programs and guidelines.
    Evaluate and adjust inventory-stocking levels based on past order
    history and performance levels in order to optimize costs and service.
    Release materials (e.g., ingredients, parts) and packaging against
    purchase orders or blanket contracts within agreed-upon lead times in
    order to assure materials are available in the right place in time for
    production.

Education:High school diploma; GED equivalent
Related Work Experience:At least 3 years

Technical Skills:

    Requirements Planning: Ability to plan materials and service
    requirements in order to support ongoing business.


    Forecasting - Demand: Knowledge of demand forecasting techniques and
    inputs (e.g., business trends, seasonality, consumption patterns).


    Information Systems: Knowledge and use of existing KO Technical
    Information Systems (e.g., JDE, DBS, SAP, Intranet) to generate
    necessary data. Ability to access, analyze and utilize information in a
    manner that adds value to the organization. Ability to propose system
    enhancements based on business needs.


    Inventory Management: Optimize inventory levels using statistical
    models to design min/max/reorder levels. Knowledge of asset management
    procedures, policies and information used to optimize inventory levels
    and/or fill rates (e.g., balance inventory levels against inventory
    carrying costs).


    Supplier Performance Management: Knowledge of supplier capabilities
    and performance to help select, enhance and manage relationships.
    Ability to measure supplier performance to expectation and recommend
    opportunities for improvement.
