Job Description:  PRIMARY FUNCTION Troubleshoots and repairs potential failure and breakdowns involving electrical, electronic, and logic systems involving machinery, equipment and plant utilities. Performs all aspects of electrical work related to industrial equipment and plant utilities in a safe and efficient manner, utilizing industry accepted methods and guidelines. TYPICAL DUTIES 1. Troubleshoots, wires and repairs complex electrical and electronic equipment or machinery. Installs conduit, control boxes, switches, electrical cabinets, circuit breakers, etc., as required. Wires complex electronic equipment such as PLC’s, DNC’s, and CNC’s. 2. Performs preventive maintenance on machinery, equipment and control circuitry to insure proper operation. Makes necessary adjustments or repairs. 3. Performs repairs on machinery/equipment to include hydraulic and pneumatic repairs. Problems for which assistance is required are referred to the supervisor for correct action. 4. Assists in the installation and relocation of production machines and equipment. Sets up precision machinery. 5. Performs simple layout and fabrication of miscellaneous weldments from sketches or drawings using various welding equipment. 6. Performs simple machining and forming of parts and material as required. 7. Performs plant utility maintenance involving the repair, replacement, and installation of electrical, air, water, oil, gas or steam lines. 8. Operates various industrial vehicles used in material/machinery moving or snow removal. 9. Assists in on-the-job training of employees in lower classifications. Assists other classifications with work normally assigned to them. May serve as a project leader and direct the activities of lower classification personnel. Capable of performing duties associated with lower classifications. 10. Employee must receive hazardous waste training before handling hazardous waste and annually thereafter. 11. Employee needs to understand how to transfer waste into the hazardous waste building. 12. Employee needs to be trained in the facility’s emergency response procedure in the event the container holding hazardous waste is spilled. Job Requirements : GENERAL REQUIREMENTS Work from work orders, prints, sketches, general instructions, electrical, electronic, or logic schematics. Assists Manufacturing Engineers when required. Operates lift trucks and other vehicles requiring a driver’s license. Uses overhead cranes, hoists, and a variety of other equipment. Uses a variety of small hand tools, power tools, saws, grinders, threaders, hydraulic presses, gas powered and electric welders, torches, drill presses, lathes, amprobe, volt/ohm meters (standard and digital) and oscilloscopes, records, micrometers and gauges. Works in wet, oily and dirty conditions. Moves heavy objects with assistance when required. Due to the nature of this job, working emergencies, and scheduled weekends may be required. The safety of self and others is considered above all other matters when using equipment. All employees are expected to: • Follow established working procedures. • Be responsible for his/her own work, under minimal supervision and instruction. • Meet or exceed quality and quantity standards. • Keep work area clean and orderly. • Contribute suggestions for methods or product improvement. · Possess working knowledge of codes, guidelines and methods related to electrical installations. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS · Completed Four year State Indentured Electrical Apprenticeship and additional technical education in electronic repair with four years of experience which provided a strong working knowledge of ladder diagram schematics, relay logic and solid state electronics. Demonstrated troubleshooting ability of CNC Programmable Controllers, process controllers and motor drive controls. Basic experience in mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic repairs and welding/machining. –OR– · Two year diploma in Electronic Servicing and four years of experience as stated above plus, two additional years of experience in electronic repair. · Work at 10-40 foot heights. · Ability to obtain a lift truck license.
