Job Description This position will report to the Specialty Tooling Design group in the Pittsburgh Penn Hall office. Candidate must be currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering. Senior year applicants are preferable. • Become familiar with Siemens drawing system • Retrieve component drawings using the web based drawing system (SAP, PDM) or the microfiche archive located in Penn Hall • 3D CAD model various turbine / generator components based on their fabrication drawings • Support the development process of new Specialty Tooling and Apparatus • Work with multiple departments, including engineering, finance, and manufacturing, to complete various projects • Create PowerPoint presentations for assorted informational purposes • Perform, under senior designer guidance, finite element analysis of various components • Support design engineering in creating the fabrication drawings for newly developed parts and assemblies • Communicate with various machine shops in getting fabrication price and lead time quotes • Follow up with the machine shops regarding the schedule of fabrication The applicant must have the following skill set: • Strong knowledge of CAD packages (preferable SolidWorks, ProE, KeyCreator) • Knowledge of Finite Element Analysis theory and packages (preferable SolidWorks Simulation) • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) • Ability to manage multiple tasks at one time • Must be technology savvy and very comfortable with computers • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively • Good communication skills • Self starter |
