Job Description

Morgan Construction Company, a Siemens VAI company, has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Applications Engineer for the Mining Truck Wheel Motor group in Worcester, MA.

All qualfied cadnidates MUST have:
* BSME or equivalent experience.
* Experience with final drive transmission, motors or drives.
* Investigative analysis, ability to design tests to replicate field failures in lab environment.
* Excellent written technical communications
* Working knowledge of engineering drawing management systems.
* Proficient in AutoCAD, Solid Works is a plus.
* Working knowledge of MS Office Suite.
* Works with little supervision, self motivated, accurate, maintain tight schedules.
* Must communicate well with others.

Not required but would be a plus:
* Prior experience with rotating equipment, mechanical, electrical & hydraulic troubleshooting
* Typically 5-8 years experience in designing, servicing, testing in Truck & Shovel mining applications is a strong plus.
* Experience in the mining industry.

Job Duties:
* To research, develop and design appropriate tests and test fixtures for a final drive transmission for electric drive haul trucks.
* Manage project and budget,
* Develop test criteria and conceptual designs for testing, prepare assembly and detail drawings, prepare bills of material and specifications.
* Prepare capital expenditure applications, plan projects and execute program to aggressive schedules
* Gather application “duty cycle” information and develop test load cases to replicate field conditions.
* Coordinate a team of resources in a matrix environment covering differing engineering disciplines (such as power electronics, instrumentation, hydraulic, structural and civil) as well as support functions (such as procurement and manufacturing) to accomplish objectives.
* Prepare complex machine designs, sketches, layouts and functional diagrams.  Perform engineering calculations such as forces, strengths of material, fits and tolerances.  Selects raw material and commercial components, develop specifications and procedures.
* Conduct analysis of designs, plan and conduct engineering validation tests and field trials, gather data, perform analysis, draw proper conclusions and report findings in professional engineering report format.
